Which is best machine: Mico Clasica 20 or Sofia 02A ?

Went to Sainsbury`s to get Clasica 20 (only just heard about them) but they only had Sofia 02A. Can you still get Clasica 20`s? Is Sofia 02A as good as Clasica 20?

Can anybody help as I can`t wait to get a DVD player!

Thanks,

I was after the clasica 20 and could not find it for sale any more. There is not much on the net regarding the sofia. I think the sofia is as good as the clasica although I am no dvd boffin. It seems to have all the connections you would need. With an upgrade (an emailable file that you burn onto cd) you can get it to play svcd`s. Not sure about multi region yet but am pretty sure it will work as all the other mico players seem to be able to do it.

It seems that the sofia is the latest model whereas the clasica is the older so you would think that it is as good if not better. I am not sure if I have helped you here or not but the player seems to do everything i need in my few days of ownership.

Cheers
Nick.

I bought the Mico clasica 20 from Sainsbury`s but it wouldn`t play Vcds.
E-mailed Micoelectric.com for the upgrade 3 times but never heard a thing. So back it went.
Better off buying another brand. I bought the Pacific dvd 1002 from Asda, Excellent machine plays everything Just £70.

Mico knocks spots off every other cheap brand. There service is second to none. I phoned them for the email update & it was with me within 15 minutes. No make has provided me with better service. My Mico Clasica 20. has given me perfect use for 9 months now & I wouldn`t swap it for anything. Still the highest recommended `Cheapie` going. Although I will buy a Panasonic DVD recorder, as soon as Mico bring out a DVD recorder with hard drive, it will be the one I would consider first of the cheapie`s.

The Classica 20 is a good machine but unfortunately does not cope with XSVCD or mini DVD at higher data rates eg 4000 Kbs, which my Dansai handles perfectly even up to 5000 Kbs.
However this may not be important for your needs though it is for mine.
