Scan Macrovision - what am I doing wrong? *s*

montezumola (Harmless) posted this on Monday, 18th December 2000, 21:19

Okay, I`ve just updated my firmware so that it now has the latest release (version 204s). I looked in the `secret` menu to find no macrovision disable options. I looked at the accompying instructions which told me what to do (setup-step-title-prev). I then looked at the macrovision status and the ADV7172 reads :

00000003

And not the 00000001 which I assume is Macrovision disabled!

What am I doing wrong!?!?

Any help would be greatfully appreciated!!!!

Regards,

Monte.

Hello Montezumola... or Monte for short..

Your not doing anything wrong... Try recording a dvd film onto VHS..
If it looks fine then the macrovision is diabled... Otherwise try the remote
key combination again..

I have version 2.04s installed... With macrovision disabled...
Still reports 00000003. but with no macro...

I had the same when I updated. It was the result code which changed at the bottom of the screen. It was 00000000 before the hack and then 00000001 afterwards.

What am I doing wrong!?!?

Well its more a case of done rather then doing wrong, youve bought the piece of sh*te.

Is it true that scans multiregion means no matter what region the disc comes from, the scan will refuse to play it?

Sounds like Mr Bear and Mr IronDuke are jealous of the progress a sub £200 DVD player is making against the over priced steaming pile of cow droppings they purchased… Or they’re bored and don’t have any other friends or girlfriends?

All I have to say to Mr Bear and Mr IronDuke is welcome to the Scan elite. We welcome you lower life forms.
