Page 1 of RGB Set Up Help!!
Hardware Forum
I have recently purchased a Philips 6006 TV. I joined from my DVD player via Scart. Changed the player to read "RGB" output, and connected on "Exe 1" on the TV (the RGB connection).
Then I could "see" some TV interference while watching a DVD. I changed Scart leads, this fixed that problem. Now everything has a slight green hue, including the DVD set up graphics when choosing RGB. I gather, somehow, before it was showing "Video", even though I set it to RGB. Now it was definitely in RGB. So in "Video" I get a nice bright picture but with some grain. In RGB I get no grain, clear image, but a green hue. I have changed Scarts umpteen times, still the same problem. All the sockets are correct as I have checked them several times.
Anyone any advice to give as I am slowly going insane changing leads over and over again!
If you are getting a green hue but still seeing Red & Blue in the picture then all three connections (Red green and blue) are connected and you are probably not doing anything wrong. This may mean that there is a problem with you RGB input on your TV or less likely the RGB output from your DVD player.
If you are ONLY getting green then it as if the Red and Blue connections are missing. This maybe because DVD player is only outputing composite video (it uses the green connection to do this), or the TV connection is not really accepting RGB correctly.
Is there a setting in for the TV scart connection in the menu somewhere that allows you to configure the scart as composite/rgb ???.
I am getting all the colours OK, just a greenish tinge moreso. Unfortunately on the TV there is nothing to change or fiddle with regards RGB. It is "Ext 1" and that is it :(
I might be wrong but my guess would be that the rgb configuration on your TV was not setup correctly in the factory. My Sharp 32" 100Hz flat screen TV suffers from a rather dull RGB image and I am forced to use S-video which produces a far better image.
I have the horrible feeling you are right. Twelve hours of fiddling later, the image hasn`t improved all that much
In "video" connection I get bright vivid, natural colours, but a grainy image. Under RGB I get a perfectly clear image, but dull, slightly green pics. Going the S-connection route is going to be tricky. Will have to be S-connect to Scart (S- input). Do they do leads like this? Or S-Scart to S-Scart?
Thanks for the help so far, much appreciated
I`d get them to have a look at your tv, I`ve got the same tv and the picture is stunning in RGB! Although I do get a bit of a dodgy picture in s-video with my ntl digibox, it`s fine with my dvd player but the ntl has really unstable colours a lot of the time.
Anyone else had this trouble with svhs2 socket?

You shouldn`t have to buy a new lead.
You should be able to still use the scart into EX1,or EX2, but tell the DVD player to send an S-VHS signal instead.
You can do that on the half dozen or so makes I`ve got experience of.
Hope this helps.

Or buy an RGB to S-VHS convertor ? A wee box for around £30. There`s a review of one on whatvideotv.com/testbench.
That might work. Might take the good RGB signal from the DVD player and convert it to a just as good S-VHS signal for you.
Bowf is right the 6006 has s-video on ext2 so you could use that instead. The picture quality is nearly as good as the RGB.
Yep, got it, up and running. Now to just stop fiddling and watch a movie! Thanks everyone for your assistance. Appreciated.
