Can anybody please tell me just how to do a forced update on my Panny (old ) Sky box. I have seen It before but am not sure of the proceedure, do I remove the card Etc? Many thanks in advance for any help.
Remove the power cable, press the back up button while reinserting the power. Keep the back up button pressed in until the message is displayed. No need to remove the card.

my panny has been working ok for the last few weeks but gone bonkers in the last 2 or 3 days crashing every few hours and constant further schedule not available error. Mentioned it to friends in work who getting same problems, given up phoning sky as they only tell you to re-boot it.
Noticed in the sky mag they a new viewing card is to be issued shortly and underneath it says contains updated software (page 51) maybe this will solve all of our problems, probably not though.

Yes, everyone I know seems to be having trouble with schedule. Scanning through channels and forward in time is always just `information unavailable`. After 10 secs or so when you go back to the channel the info is generally there. Another one where, like you say, Sky refuse to admit there`s a problem and go through the usual `fixes`. Happened about a year ago when loads of boxes kept locking up, switching to (usually) 501 then turning off.

I have just got a second hand panny and have got the free to view card and everything seems to be running -ok upto now.
It updated it self with no problems .There was a slight delay before the text option started working.I am very pleased with the machine.[ The remotes backup button is a pain it should have been moved away from the down arrow.]
