Is the AV sender on scan.co.uk today any good?

Bill Carr (Elite) posted this on Monday, 1st July 2002, 10:00

Does anyone have any experience of this unit? I want to hook up my video, dvd and playstation to the same telly (1 scart), and is this device the best way to do it, or should I just stick to a basic scart splitter?
Thanks for any help in advance.

Bb

(ps, the prompter the reply the better really, if i`m to get this thing today!)

Cheers fella. I`d still like to know whether or not it`s the right thing for me. Should I just get a simple splitter (from eg Argos for a tenner(ish)) or is this thing a better bet for connecting multiple scarts to a single scarted tv?
Cheers again.

I can`t tell you if its any good
but whatever you do DON`T buy anything from this bunch of robbing, cheating, lying, scumbags.

If you are lucky, you may get what you ordered and it may work - fine

otherwise you can kiss goodbye to your hard earned cash, cos you won`t get anything back of them.

They cheated me into returning my failed purchase and then kept both the goods and the money - never got a thing back (even tho` RMA was quoted). No replies to e-mails, nowt.

I am far from being the only one in this predicament. Read the forums widely and learn.

The gamble, as they say, is yours!!!
Be warned.

FWIW - since this farce I have learned that scam/scum.co.uk are never the best price anyway.

If you have an rma number you either get a refund, replacement parts or
your original parts back as a no fault found. You cannot accuse us of anything until we know the full story so an rma number wouild be helpful
so we can look into it a bit further.

What did you do about this Bill?

I`ve just posted a similar query - want to connect VCR, DVD and Satellite and X Box to TV - do the ones from Argos maintain RGB if connected to the RGB AV1 socket?

What did you end up buying and how is it?

Still haven`t bought anything yet. Was waiting for more feedback. The Argos splitters have been mentioned before, but no-one seems to know (or want to say) what is best. My parents have the Argos manual splitter - you have to press buttons to select the input - which is ok, but not sure if it does rgb or not. I saw that beyondhifi have one too, but I had a very unsatsifactory dealing with them before and wouldn`t want to deal with them again - despite what clayts and others have said about them. I think Maplin do a splitter too, but its £14 if I remember rightly, but i`m not sure if they still do. I`ve not been in too big a hurry to sort this, coz I can get away with daisy-chaining my video & dvd, but then I can`t use my playstation through scart, which is a pain.

It would be really great if anyone who`s got experience of a scart splitter could recommend one here. Please?

Just one final point - Scan are ok. Not the best in the world, but neither are they the worst. Generally speaking, if you want a response out of any company its best to ring AND email them. And if problems occur write a letter.

Cheers

Bill if you search the Hardware forum on www.officialxboxmagazine.co.uk i seem to remember someone saying that they had bought one of the argos ones and it was fine.

I can`t do it as our firewall wont let me look at the site. If you find anything let me know.
