Panasonic Blu-ray players can usually be hacked for Region free DVD playback via one of those All in One Magic Remote thingies. It's not hackable for Blu-ray.

Depending on your budget, there is a hardware mod for Panasonic players which Multi-region Magic do, but it isn't cheap. You'll have to get onto them directly about it, as they don't have the mod listed separately for the 160, although they do sell it pre-modded.

It was a pure con from day one of DVD's when they thought up regions, to prevent you running DVD's from other countries.
Thats why I only buy region free DVD players, and never owned a Blueray player or Blueray disk.
Another con, is the DVD machine itself preventing you to fast forward directly to the Title screen, by disabling certain buttons on the remote controller.
Imagine your car preventing you turning left, as KFC is on the right. Thats exactly how it feels. I hate it.
Bring back VCR tape I say, at least you were in full control of your consumer products in those days.
