I used the suggested hack for the Pacific 1000 on this machine...but when playing a R1 dvd i get no picture only a)blank screen or b)diagonal lines across the screen as though the picture is not tuned in.Anyone any advice as to where i`m going wrong? Thanks!

I dont think you are doing anything wrong. I experienced problems playing region 1 disks after doing the multiregion hack as advised by the Asda help line, so I took the player back and got a refund.

This works for the pacific 1000, also at ASDA so its worth a try: power on, open dvd tray and press 8421 on the remote. region 2 will appear on screen. press enter to change regions 1 to 6. pressing enter till 9. this will make it muti region. note: i also found on this model it was necessary to change the tv system by the dvd set-up from Pal to Pal 60, otherwise some regions run a bit slow, done this to my dvd and it works perfect. ftmftm

I tried this on my Pacific 750 and it works but how do you change to PAL 60 i cant find this option anywhere.

Chris! If it`s the same as the 1000 you press "set up" then press the right arrow to highlight "video" press "enter". Then press down arrow for "pal" press "enter" and scroll down to "pal 60" press "enter" and then press "set up" Regards Biteman!
