i have searched and searched and i cant find a dvd player listed with a hack code on here thats available to buy in Currys or Comet or Argos......HELP

Can anyone tell me if they have recently (like in the last few weeks) bought a dvd player from a local electronics store and then came here and got a hack that worked.

Im desperate i just bought Greys Anatomy Series 3, and i missed it on sky as i just a had a baby so id like to be able to watch it but its region code 1

Most of the Matsui and Bush DVD players are actually multi-region out of the box, or just need a simple code. See this page at Currys website.

I bought a Matsui player for about £20 a few months back (it`s already a discontinued model) and it was multi-region out of the box.

Another option is this Wharfedale model from Argos at £34.99. Here is the hack:

open tray place region 1 dvd in it but dont close the tray!
on remote press 0 1 2 3 then play .

you hav no idea how happy u just made me. i got hooked to greys anatomy and what with breastfeeding, nappies and lack of sleep missed almost the entire series and when i bought the discs on ebay i was chuffed until i realised they were region 1.

If your going to argos you might aswell pick up the £28 Bush player. Multi region out of the box and it`ll play avi files too.

Any chance you could just let us know what you did buy? (assuming you`re currently out buying it!)

I`m glad my post helped. The main problem is that the shop often doesn`t publicise the fact the a machine is multi-region. Websites and shops like Richer Sounds do, but the larger High Street chains try to avoid the subject. I`m sure that whatever you buy will play your discs and make you a very happy mum again! ;)

a tip for you if you buy a player if it made in china there will be a hack for it
my players

lg 500 , hyundai 320a , amstrad, daewoo 900 and optoma dv10 and cyberhome 1600
all of which are region hacked most will be but need a bit of web serching good luck

the daewoo i got at sainsburys the hundai from ebay, the cyberhome (its a recorder) from asda/walmart the lg at a market the optoma from pc world (its a projector with built dvd) the amstrad from dixons

I found the 320 model (multi-region out of the box) quoted is now mostly out of stock with Currys/Comet, and has been replaced by the MATDVD3307 which is not multi-region. As someone has stated elsewhere Matsui change models v regularly - I`m still waiting for the region hack for the 3307, which hopefully will hit the web eventually.

Just received this from another site and it worked fine for me first time, but note his comment re the region (I tested mine fine with several):

Open CD door
Press number buttons 7777 from the remote
Select Region 0 for region free setting

We had to select region one rather than zero as our american dvd didn`t work with the region free setting, but it`s no hardship to change it back afterwards. Hope you read this after waiting for so long!
