Page 1 of Schneider DVD 855 Multi Region Hack???

Hello everyone.

Yesterday I went to Asda and recently purchased a Schneider DVD 855 DVD Player. I was wondering if anyone could help me by means of providing a Multi-Region hack for it.

Plus (and I know this should go to hardware), have I made a wise purchase with this DVD player? It cost me £150, and I managed to watch my three DVD`s on it (Bad Boys, Demons and Demons 2) without and quibble.

Also just bought one. Seems to play everything so far.
I tested 4 before this one so any feed back gladly appreciated.

Id say just try the hack for the schneider 511 & 810 players. I have an 811 model and the hack was that of the 511 model. My model also seems to be macrovision free.

All the DVD`s I`ve played on it (Bad Boys, Demons, Demons 2, Full Metal Jacket, Men In Black: Special Edition and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) all worked fine. I`m awaiting my Video CD to arrive and then I can tell you what the VCD capabilities are like.

But this seems a pretty sweet player for the price

No, those hacks do not work on the 855.

Both those hacks start with pressing the munu button with no dvd in the tray.

The 855 does not accept that without a dvd in the tray.

I have emailed schneider hq in Germany for this info, so far no reply.

I have also spoken to SchneiderUK about this and they have stated that there is definately a hack for the codes. they are awaiting them from Germany, they will then send them to me. If and when I get them I will post it here.

One thing does bother me.....When I asked them about the upgrade facility via a cd, they knew nothing about it. It clearly states that this is possible on the box, but yet there is nothing inside about it.

I also complained about the lack of contact details in the box, they just apologised. I only hope that the real reason is not because it is a rubbish player, and they don`t want us to contact them?

I also have found that in the manual, it states that the factory default pin for the parental control is "4412". This is incorrect, after some playing around I found that it was "0000".

Allthough I have played 4 dvd`s without any problems, 2 x mp3`s also without problems, I am not happy due to the above.

Just got off the phone with SchneiderUK......

Last time I spoke to them , they said that they would have the hack on Friday night (last Friday). Now they are saying they will have it in about a week. Again, they said that there is 100% a hack.

Changing subject............

Has anyone noticed a problem with lip sync? My player seems to have this problem, where the voice does not quite match the movement of the mouth. I find this very annoying. Is this normal with dvd`s? Or do I have a duff machine?

The VCD playback of this model is fine, the three films Ive watched have all worked OK.

Ive watched about 15 DVD titles on it so far including Loser, Battlefield Earth, The 6th Day. Every title has played without glitch.

Im very impressed with the quality and features of the player.

Well done to ASDA for a quality product at a realistic price

i noticed the same prob on mine while watching austin powers 2.. bit like wathcing a old chinese film with dubbed in speech..
Aslo u got the region hack yet??
