Page 1 of Multi-Region PC???
Hack Help Forum
Would anybody know how to make a PC multi-region in terms of dvd playback?
I can make it any one region at the moment but am fast using up my chances to do so - soon , my PC will apparently lock into the last chosen region.
look in 7thzone.com for the dvd genie
hope this helps
Like the previous person, I use DVD genie to change my player over regions, and it works great. You can find this software on most DVD site`s.
Good Luck
I use DVD genie too and it is very good as long as your DVD-rom drive is not region specific - I had to flash the BIOS on my Pioneer drive - it was all downloadable though (for free)

What the above threads are saying, in summary, that you need:
a) a region-free drive (this depends on the firmware - some come already region-free, and most of the others you can download firmware off the Internet.) Make sure your drive is already, or can be made, region-free; and
b) a piece of software to ensure your DVD player (ie the SOFTWARE - like PowerDVD or WinDVD) is region-free. The recognised best utility for this is DVD Genie.
If you`re using a hardware decoder (unnecessary these days with powerful PC`s) then you`ll need a hack for that instead of b)
Hope that`s clarified the issue.

hmmm, its like having to be a bloody mechanic - thanks for the posts anyway guys, lots of help.
so how do i establish if my drive is already, or can be made, region free, and is it just a matter of searching for `firmware` on, say, matsushita`s website for the fix?
In order to make your drive region free, go to:
http://perso.club-internet.fr/farzeno/firmware/
The page contains region-free firmwares for lots of different drives.
