Matsui DVD227 (469367) Multiregion code.
Switch on the unit and press the ``SETUP`` button on the remote control
once, the DVD menu will appear on screen.
Using the remote enter pin ``1389``, the regional setting will appear at the bottom of the screen.
Use the arrows key until ``0`` is displayed on the screen.
Press ``setup`` to escape from the menu.
The unit is now Multiregion.

In Dixons they told me the info was available from their own web site. Completely legitimate and authorised. Maybe try to find it on their site, or ask in the shop.

Currys are pretty good if there is a "hack" for players they sell it`s usually put on the website ( usually right next to the photo of the product) so i guess they don`t mind if ppl make them multi region :D

Hi there, on the website where I read about Matsui DVD 227, it says that it does not play mp3. Is that correct? I have never heard about a dvd player that cant play mp3 cds.

According to the specs found on the net - Yes the device Matsui DVD227 plays mp3`s. However I do have the same problem as you:
IT DOES NOT SHOW OR PLAY ANY MP3`s
I have been searching for a hack but not found one.
The multiregion hack works - But not for MP3.
The Matsui DVD227 is just beautiful. I bought it for my Stereo to replace a faulty CD player and it is the only one I have found fiting into the furniture (Cabinet). Before bying I checked the net if it plays mp3`s and I found it would. But my unit does not.

Have you found a code (hack) to enable mp3 - Please let me know !!!

Folks

Is it the MP3`s it will not play ...or is it the Media you have burned the MP3`s onto it will not recognise.

Some players will not recognise some media....Some players will not play copied media full stop ...have you considered this as a reason for no MP3 playback.

For Example the Matsui DVD110 player would not play any CDR disks ...but would play Imation CDRW disks.

The Player may have MP3 capability but it need to be able to read the disk in order to actually play them.

Of course if you are not using copied media then my comments are irrelevent ...if you are it may be worth trying different types ....Imation CDRW might be a good start

I would also recommend a slow burn rate also.

If you look at this page ...it does suggest that it does not Play MP3`s...but that could be because nobody has found a suitable media for the player to recognise yet.

www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers?DVDnameid=6191#comments

But it could just be a non MP3 player but this is very unusual ! especially considering that from what I have read from previous posts that the information supplied from the suppliers is that it is an MP3 compatible player.

You can test the Media Compatability question as on the above site it states that the player will play Audio CD ...so firstly put a "shop bought" Audio CD in the player ...confirm it plays then make a copy of it and try again ...if the copy plays then the media is probably not the issue ...if it does not then it obviously is.

Hope this helps

Hackeroonie,

Your advice is very well taken and should be considered.
In this case however (Matsui DVD227) the device is reading the directory tree of the CD. It will display any picture files or any CD-A tracks. It is possible to walk the directory tree of an mp3 record - But you will not find any mp3 entries.
I have tried several CD brands and so far all works in CD-A mode and none in mp3.
Further the device is soled in UK with mp3 function enabled but elsewere sometimes not.
It could be a version issue of cause however I doubt it. More likely it is a license issue. The software version of my device: 06.00.02.06 How to reach software version - Se multiregon code change in this thread.
