When i buy region 1 dvds, i order from Canada using

I usually get them within 7-10 days, no bother and postage and packing is free world wide.

dont know if it will work on yours though use it at your own risk.


1. Press the Open/Close button on the DVD player to open the drive tray

2. Press the Setup button on your remote control

3. Using your remote control, highlight but do not select the Exit Setup option in the menu

4. Press the buttons 1, 3, 6 and 9 on your remote control, in order, one at a time

5. Press the Left button on your remote control, three times, in succession

6. Press the Right button on your remote control

7. Select the new Version option from the menu

8. You will now be able to change the value to 1 for Region 1, 2 for Region 2, and so on, or 0 for multi-region playback

Currys are pretty good if there is a "hack" for players they sell it`s usually put on the website ( usually right next to the photo of the product) so i guess they don`t mind if ppl make them multi region :D

i guess it depends on what the quality of the goods is like and how good the customer service is, if thats good i guess some ppl don`t mind paying a little extra, all i can say is i have used that particular company , and have had no problems , even when returning goods they gave me a full refund with no fuss at all

i think it works out a lot of the time the p&p is as much ( or even more) than the cost of the items, in account of the weight so buying them online can a bit of a false "saving", I also walk around some of the local computer fairs, even market stalls and £ shops sell blank disks now it`s a good way to find good prices ( and maybe get a few bargains), even " budget"supermarkets are getting in on the act, such as Aldi, Lidl, I know that Netto was recently selling packs of 5 Traxdata +R dvd disks, in full size jewel cases for £1.96. so maybe this will make the big boys lower the prices a bit

i went to my co-op and saw they were selling a dvd player in there for £26.99,which looked to be almost the exact same model as the Lidl £19.99 version but no card reader on the co-op one.

i went to a new Aldi near us and they had quite a few of their cheap dvd players in for £19.99, i must say i was tempted but with not knowing the brand (Targa i think...?), i was not sure if they were any good , so deceided against it or another deal was the same (Targa..? £19.99) dvd player with 5.1 surround sound kit for £59.99, i think it depoends if the store is in a populated area, as this one was quite a way out of town so they had a few on the shelf. But as you said with NEtto and Lidl, i would not be surprised if the staff have not got hold of them first, before the store even puts the adverts out.

nice little things arn`t they..?, i was a bit dubious at first with it having no "screen" but after making it multi region, i must say it seems to play everything i have put in it ( including cd-rw)

I found it odd that Currys are selling re-furbished dvd players for £24.98 but the same model NEW is only £24.99

thats the thing with Lidl they advertise amazing deals, then when you read the small print a lot of the time you see "selected stores only" or by the time you go to the store thay have none in stock, they seem to sell out very quicky, or it seems they just have a few on the shelves in the first place and so unless you are there at the crack of dawn you got no chance , and you never seem to know if/when they are going to have anymore, it happened to me with one of the computer systems they were selling a while back, you can" order" one,but once again they can`t seem to tell you when new stock will be in so a lot of the time you end up waiting for weeks for nothing, give up, get your deposit back then low and behold they have "limited stock " in again

and we have two Lidl`s on our doorstep, the stock seems to range from store to store, as one has things the other has not got have and vice versa,and some times they don`t have any of the regionally advertised "deals" in at all

Matsui dvd 227 £24.99 ( reduced from £29.99) i brought one yesterday they are almost as small as a portable player,and can be made multi region by "remote hack" a nice little unit, no screen though, settings all to be done by osd

Argos are selling an Acoustic Solutions dvd player for £19.99 now too,but i think it`s only region 2, anyone know if it is any good or it can be multi regioned?
