I have just purchased this dvd player . it sounds good . but two probs
1. does nayone know a hack to make it multi region ?
2. I have tries to connect my ps2 through the surround sound system using the optical output socket . When i play the dvd through the ps2 the sound only comes out of the right front speaker and is so loud it can be heard two houses away ( i dont mind but wife not too happy with the noise . ) Has anyone else had this problem and do they have a remedy

After mush research and trial and error I have answered my own question . to get multi region on the Binatone Dp1800 i recently purchased from Argos . do the following it definately works

Turn on machine , without putting a disk in on remote press :-

setup followed by 0000
then press the next button ( on my remote , bottom right hand corner blue arrow below the word up )
a new mode new version appears . go into this and select whichever region you wish .
this will permanently change the region so you will have to go back in to change it back to region 2 .

Have you tried setting the region code to 0 (zero) if this is an option.
I have read some of the hacks for other players & if 0 is selected the player normally works with any region disc, give it a go & let us know.

Can you tell me if the Binatone Dp1800 has a cooling fan that runs when it is switched on, you will be able to hear this & it will also be visible on the back of the player.

What disks can you play on the system.

Does the system have AV inputs.

In answer to your questions . setting the region to 0 appears to have worked . It has taken my region one and two disks with no probs Thanks for that .

the system does not have a cooling fan , just vents on the top to allow air circulation which the manual says should not be covered .

The system appears to take all formats cds , mpeg , mp3 player , regions 0 to 6 disks now i have managed to change it today . All in all certainly not a bad buy for £129 from argos .
