Hi Andy

I`ve just walked in with brand new Toshiba SD330E myself, but have to wait until next weekend for the TV I have ordered :-(

So I can`t test this, but one of the messages in this same forum seems to suggest that you can hack it by the firmware update for the SD220E.

If either that works or someone emails you a solution offline (by email) do let us know here. I will be looking to do mine next weekend!

Good luck!

I read another post on this site from Gerrard

Quote `You can get a a disc from places such as D&C that will convert your player to multi-region, don`t know about any of the other new models though. e-mail at ofni[at]moc.tascd`

Please let me know if you find anything on the web viz. free

Hi for all of you still trying unlock your Toshiba SD330E and frustrated with the links that don`t work. Just spent the last 5 days trying to sort mine out and finally success !!

Just to save you all some time here what he say`s

Instructions for Creating Multi-Region Update CD
================================================

Download the multi-region update file
http://koti.mbnet.fi/~uheng/sd220e.rar

You`ll need something like WinRar to extract the compressed files within (http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm), then extract the files to a temp directory.

Use Nero burning Rom to burn a vcd (video CD) with the files you extracted. A demo of Nero 6 Burning Rom can be downloaded at www.nero.com.

To burn the multi-region update cd open Nero, and select `Video CD` from the `New Compilation` options.
My settings were left at the defaults suggested by Nero which were

Video CD Tab

Create standard compliant CD - Checked
Encoding resolution - PAL
Use CD-i application - Checked.

Burn Tab
-----------
Write method - `Disk at Once`

Click the `New` button, which takes you to the Video CD creation screen. From the menu select `Recorder` / `Burn Image` and select the file tosh sd220e.cue (1 of the extract files from sd220e.rar). Once selected, you will be presented with a screen titled `Burn Compilation` - just click burn and your multi-region update disk will be created.

Instructions for multi region update on DVD player
==================================================

Switch on DVD Player
Press SETUP
Under the Picture option Change the Pal/Auto setting to Auto
Press SETUP again to return to main screen.
Insert the Update CD.
CD will spin Up.
The following images were displayed
'Nabe the Wiz' (Could have been 'Mabe the Wiz' it came up only for a few seconds) and then ends with 'FIN'
Remove CD.
Switch DVD Player On/Off to make sure it isn't still trying to update.
And way you go… region free

Print it out & follow it to the letter it works a treat, after all the hastle getting all of the software it take`s about 10 seconds from Nabe the Wiz to Fin.
Well worth the time to enjoy an excellent player region free.
Good luck !!

Prior to spending any of your money, ill gotten or well earned :D , do a search for the hacks at the addresses mentioned and then D.I.Y.
Why pay £5 - £10 for some greedy wt[at]t to make money on something that is freely available on the web.

Choagy :)

PS I downloaded the SD220E.rar file , burnt it and applied it to our 220E and it plays R1 and R2 with no problem.
