Does anybody have one or can anybody tell me how to change to a manual region select?

There isn`t any way of manualy changing the region on this dvd player that I know of. Every method of chipping requires a `chip` physicaly being fitted inside. The ones that I know of are automatic and don`t require manual selection, and they are RCE compatible. If your dvd player isn`t already `chipped`, try looking at www.techtronics.com. They collect your dvd player, `chip` it and return it to you.
You might like to know that while your dvd player is in standby, if you press Title, Clear then Power on your remote control will bring up the service mode. You then have the options on screen to run checks. Do NOT adjust any settings unless you know what you are doing. This can be done on the DVP-S715 aswell.

My player was bought from a Sony shop in Saudi Arabia whilst I was working in the Gulf as a multi-region player back in April 2000 long before RCE was introduced. I like many others, bought the Patriot being unaware that it was the first RCE dic as such. Until now I have avoided buying Col/Tristar discs from stateside but have been recently given a lend of XXX and instead of watching it on my PC I was looking for a fix. My player does play every other disc that there is apart from the Col/Tristar discs. Thanx for your help and I will take your advice on board.
