Neither the new or the old hack for the Apex seems to work on the unit I just bought? Any ideas?

This is because the new machines have a firmware that doesnt allow access to the Loopholes menu.

and I think you cant update it with a cd!

If you do a search you will find some people are going into some serious DIY to make this player multiregion.

The one good thing is you have the ESS4318 chipset which is far better then the old 4308 which had matrix problems etc..

I have the 4408F chipset which has DTS decoding built in but hitachi couldnt be arsed writing the software for it:(
