Start of Gremlining Day

Any chance of moving the start of the gremlin day from midnight? I don`t mind where to, but I can`t keep staying up every night to check my gremlin :D 9am, 12 noon, 10pm?

I like the sound of 10pm myself - midnight`s not so bad, but it`s the hanging around for 40 mins after, checking to see if I have challenges to accept so I can keep my challenges free for the morning :)

Or maybe provide an option when a grem is created, to specify a time to start its day (from a choice of 4 or 5) - where it`d get a new lot of 10 challenges to dish out. It`d also help folks in different time zones, and probably provide a fairly steady flow of incoming challenges (I tend to find between 9pm and 12pm a bit of a `dead zone` as far as matches go). Just typing ideas before I think about them too much...

Sorry chaps, no chance at all. :)

It has to be a quiet period because the daily "tick" as it were, has to recreate the entire league table from scratch for living and then living+dead gremlins, and kill some of them, and a load of other stuff too like expire challenges.

Which rules out any useful hour like 10pm, sorry. :)

Oh well... Have to go to plan B, and turn up for work 2 hours late every day, as I can`t wake up any later than I do now... :)

But surely if everyone`s hanging around at 12am anyway waiting for the "tick" it`s not quiet??

Or do you mean "quiet" as far as database updates are concerned (which I guess it would be)?

I do mean quiet for the database server. :)

Gremlins isn`t the only site running off it. And if people are hanging around waiting for the tick, and that really did get in the way then we`d sort out an automated system which would show "down for maintenance" for 5 mins after 12.

Is it just me or is the thought of staying up `til 12 for that rather OTT? Thought this weant to be a bit of fun, not the next Olympic sport ;)
