Is this actually possible?

shenbop2001 (Competent) posted this on Monday, 15th April 2002, 16:18

Just looking around on eBay and I found this auction:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1529920022
I`ve seen lots of auctions like this before and never really taken notice but if it is possible to do this it would be very cool.
So I was wondering if anyone has ever done what they say and converted their T.V into a "100 inch projection system" or something similar. I really don`t see how it is possible, so does anyone know how it all works/doesn`t work at all?

Steve

Thats what i`m thinking and usually i ignore anything like this, but this stuff is all that he sells and he has a rating of 1392, so there must be something good about this?

Notice how nearly all of his good replies are about how quick it got to them - when they`re talking about the actual piece of equipment they`re usually much more subdued.

Heh, seen those before. In fact you will have as well, they are the same stuff as those things you see in the back of bus windows for enlarging the rear view for the driver.

Yes it will enlarge the size of the image, yes the image will be far more dull, yes the image quality will suck rocks.

The other one doing the rounds is software that will copy DVDs and doesn`t even require a DVD writer. Of course its just software that anyone can already freely download of the internet for nothing, used for ripping DVDs to Divx or SVCD, and they charge you $39.95 for the priveledge.

My m8 bought one, you have to turn your TV upside down and build an enclosure to go on the front of it, which houses the lense. Using cardboard boxes, this looks absolutely ludicrous.

Needless to say, when he got the lense and instructions, it`s never been used and he got a better TV instead.

Hmm that sounds similar to the make-it-yourself TV I bought from e-bay except there was no lens involved. You just simply got a box, cut a whole in the front, drew on some buttons and then got in the box. Never saw meself on TV though, although some friends did.....
