I have just purchased a Multi-region Inferior crap offering or MICO as they call it for short does any one have a good word to say about this player or any news on the new Aiwa dvd

Points in favour of the Mico

The Mico does SVCD does the Aiwa? Ive not heard yet.
Also True Multiregion? Can you turn back the Aiwa for RCE Discs?
Mico is also macrovision free! The Aiwa `may` possibly be able to do this but you`ll need a pair of wire-cutters and this will invalidate your warrantee

Points in favour of the Aiwa

The Aiwa has a proper standby button on remote. The IR sensor will also pickup the RCU from any point in the room. Mico is VERY directional unfortunately!
No reliabilty problems mentioned yet. Whereas Mico`s unreliability is HIGH!
The price at HED (A great company) is £169.99 for 48hour delivery. The Mico will set you back a further £17.

The Aiwa is definately the better buy if you dont need SVCD/macrovision disable.
Problem discs in my Mico are none. Problem discs in the Aiwa ?

If I could do it all again it would be the Aiwa (No Question).

Not every Mico crunches disc!!!/But Aiwa Rocks.

Infact it rocks so much it makes the Hitachi redundant. I`m not joking IronDuke. YOU KNOW ITS TRUE!!!

Now now Carrot... don`t get the Dukey on his high horse!

The Aiwa may have disc trouble, but Gladiator R2 is multi layered, so I should know after I watch this!

The macro disable MAY invalidate warranty, but I have a sneaky suspicion that the pin being snipped might be in the scart itself, therefore, snipping the scart CABLE would give the same result. (An opinion shared by my instore engineer!)

However, once I know for a DEFINITE whether the Macro can be disabled, I will post on this forum.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Carrot, but try not to slag off the other (older...rockier lol) players in the process..it was thanks to the Duke that we found out about the lovely Aiwa.

The 505`s competition the sony 535 is still around the 300+ mark where the 505 is around 270!

Infact Hitachi`s top line model the 705 is going to retail for 350, some writer`s have already stated this may cause sony and pioneer to cut the price on there 636 & 735`s for xmas as Dixons are advertising the 505/705 on national TV.

SO if Hitachi need to drop there prices, then Sony, Panny & Pie&Ear certainly need to drop there`s.

That`s a duff question as the Mico can do more then the glorious Sony 735 & Pie&Ear 737!

The problem is what the Sony/Hitachi & Pie do!
They do it better then the Mico and AIWA!

I always thought that AIWA was SONY in disguise. Might be wrong but I honestly thought that AIWA is budget SONY. All the stuff has the same look to it!!!! I have also had a few AIWA units and SONY units in Hi-Fi and Personal stereos. They all looked alike and had the same features!!
