Page 1 of Maglite LED upgrade
General Forum
Ever since I got a really nice LED torch, my poor maglite has been left on the shelf. I just couldn't bring myself to use it anymore, it's poor little underpowered yellowy light in comparison.
After almost a year of occasionally umming and ahing between various different LED upgrades, I finally plumped for this one:

Was easy to do, and the difference is huge. You lose a bit of the wide focus beam, and it works best as more of a spot, but it's still definitely given the poor old thing a whole new lease of life.
And in the process of repairing it (a battery had leaked at some point and caused a bit of damage), I now understand how the thing is engineered. Quite a clever design!
Well worth doing if you have an old one lying around.

I also have dumped my old Maglite for this beast, very useful for working on or in the vans (or cars for that matter). Has a plastic hook on the back for hanging, and magnets built in for sticking to metal sides.
Also used a few of them to light up our workhut the other day, when we lost the mains electricity for a while. Worked a treat.
Got them in Wilkinsons, for a fiver each, takes 4 AA batteries. Rubber sided and quite robust.
Working in the entertainment industry I upgraded my trusty one to LED and tis good :)
