Small world, I`ve got one too,
Unfortunately ours did go up in smoke back in January, luckily no further damage done. BSH sent out an engineer for £85 told us the replacement part was £180. So he asked the missus if we wanted it repaired and we declined, he then stated he had to decommission the machine and cut the plug off. Turned out the tool cut our washing machine plug off instead >:( .
I`ve been too tight to buy a new one about £400 for a silver Bosch so have just left the dishwasher in its place. Last week they sent us the fire hazard letter so I called them up and they said they would come and fix it and hopefully refund our original £85 callout charge.
The engineer who visited hasn`t fixed it because it looks like the original bloke tampered badly with it, but they said they will return and hopefully sort it as the part that went bang is the one that is the fire hazard.

Wow, the amount we use ours I feel lucky we didn`t have the same problem!

Glad they are refunding you for that callout.
