PACINO or DE NIRO?

Who do u think is better PACINO or DE NIRO?
I say Pacino, because he can play different types of roles and look compfortable in them!! Also he`s made half the amount of films as De Niro but has got more Oscar nominations!!

Name me one performance better than Pacino`s Tony Montana in
De Palma`s Scarface!!

I posed the exact same question a few months ago on this very forum, my answer is still the same, Pacino gets my vote as he has taken more risks in his choice of roles throughout his career. I don`t think that it`s just down to the amount of Oscar nominations as most film actors know these are `political`, more than who gave the best performance in a given year.

Looks Up, shouts BOOOOOO, HISSSSSSS!

Pacino, no question. Far greater range, depth and emotion. He`s good even when he can`t be bothered, unlike de niro.

Al Pacino
The man is superb. Much more likeable than de niro.
De niro always plays the same sort of role

"De niro always plays the same sort of role"

How can you say such a thing?
Both actors are in a class of their own and I rate them both as role models to many a budding actor. For both of them are the true masters of acting and put alot of passion and research into their roles, thats not to say that others don`t but with these guys it`s very noticeable.
The only problem is that De Niro has tried his hand at some comedy roles lately and although these films are good, ( I have both Analyze This and Meet The Parents) They are just not masterpieces like his earlier films. We have come to expect nothing less from the guys.
So you certainly cannot type cast these two. But it would be true to say that they play very powerful people in their roles and nobody is able to a similar role with such conviction.

Don`t get me wrong on this. De Niro is class, but as someone pointed out "he plays the same type of role"-let me re-phrase that: he`s only SUCCESSFUL in one type of role"....which is the crazy, menacing, madman...Means Sts.,Taxi Driver,Raging Bull,King of Comedy,Cape Fear
even parts of Goodfellas (all scorsese) also The Untouchables. He has done some great other stuff like playing an older character in Once Upon a Time in America and crackin performances in Heat, Deer Hunter and Godfather Part II.

U say De Niro is scary, wot about Pacino as Michael Corleone (Godfather)
or Tony Montana (Scarface)? That geezer is scary too!!

I think they`re both grand (Trevor Brooking-style answer) and even better when they`re in the same movie (Heat).

They`re the first two actors that I will always go out of my way to buy, no matter how shabby (even Frankie and Johnny, eh Al ?)
