The Simpsons on terrestial T.V.

Don`t know about a lot of you, but I only have 4.5 channels, even here in London Channel 5 reception is crap.

The BBC are not going to renegotiate rights to The Simpsons which expires in November, and Channel 4 and 5 are bidding for it. The BBC paid £100k per show, and estimates are that the winning channel may bid around £250k per show. I think this price includes repeat fees too.

I can`t stand C5, it`s just full of rubbish, except for CSI which doesn`t seem bad, except when I move my arm holding the aerial...

Any C5 lovers out here?

I`ve heard that the bidding will start at £800.000 per episode

I don`t want to seem like a twat but didn`t you mean £800000 as the `.` signifies the difference between pounds and pence, so £800 an episode would be quite a bargain, everyone could own the tv rights to their favourite episode... now there`s an idea.

I think you may find that bbc hold the rights until 2004.

"The successful bidder will get the rights to broadcast reruns from November, and can broadcast new series from 2004. The BBC will still be able to screen reruns until 2006."

Incidentally, the show is going 5 nights a week on BBC2 from next week - don`t know how long for though - looks like at least 2 weeks...

I wouldn`t disagree with the claim that C5 is full of rubbish - it does certainly seem to cater to the lowest common denominator.

About the only thing I watch on it is Law & Order (one of the best but most unappreciated shows eved made, IMO) - once Hallmark catches up (as it`s still showing the 1996 series.....) I`ll ditch C5 for good.

Don`t know about Channel 5 but Sky 1 is top of the league for absolute toss if you ask me.......Simpsons excluded of course (oh and Malcolm in the middle is quite funny too)!

Hi.
I happen to like certain channel 5 shows. My reception is perfectly fine. I enjoy some of the 9pm movies. Some maybe tv movies but they are still watchable and entertaining. I especially love CSI. Its one of my fave shows. Charmed also is very cool. I love it. Xena and Hercules are ok to watch sometimes. When i didnt have sky, channel 5 was all i had and they showed all these good shows. Fair enough they are on sky and now that i have it, i dont watch channel 5 that much but respect to them for showing them.
