Sky Rainforest Appeal

Have I missed something folks :/

Sky hope to save millions of trees. Laudable and admirable cause, but wait a minute.

"Why do they keep printing/ posting/ adding scheitte scratchcards/ Adding scheitte advertising flyers etc in the magazine they post to around 6,000,000 people.

Each one weighs about 100 grams so that works out at about 600 tonnes a month and 7,200 tonnes a year. Anyone else confused :D

Lol, fair point. In the last magazine we got, there were 7 copies of the movies bit in the pack! :o Super waste

Also, they now reckon that the magazine should cost £2.20 to each customer, but we`re already paying it included in our fees. Our sky mag comes, comes out of the plastic wrapper, and goes in the recycling bin...we never even look at it...does that mean we can cancel the magazine and get £2.20 off our bill? ;)

No, it never works like that, so your best bet is to go hug a tree, while its still there :D

Mr Pedantic again folks :)

Sadly my basic grasp of mathematics has let me down.
The magazine does not weigh 100 grms, it weighs 300 grms :o
So rather than Sky only wasting 7200 tonnes of paper a year they use a whopping 21,600 tonnes .
On a very basic level 1 tonne of magazine quality paper uses 24 trees.
Again basic maths, 21,600 tonnes times 24 trees per tonne equates to approximately 500,000 trees

Yes well done Sky, true environmental crusaders :D

Just checked their official reply on paper use. They use 20% recycled paper so in reality they ONLY use 400,000 trees a year :/ That is all based on them sending magazines out to 6,000,000 and not the 8,000,000 they may send to so it could be even worse.

And those crappy scratch cards aren`t produced by Sky... ;)

They get some kind of tax relief on the magazine cost in the subscription I believe.

Could someone please
Remove these cutleries

Just recently I have been delivering Skys adverts for joining HD. They must run into the hundreds I deliver each month and that`s before the un-addressed leaflets they send out. I think you`ll find it`s more than 400,000 trees a year.
