What is the bright light in the sky over Brittain ?

This year, I keep seeing this big bright light in the sky slowly moving across the sky on particular nights.

My wife keeps saying its the international space station reflecting in the suns rays, but is over two hundred miles up in orbit.

Also when its there, i check the website that shows the space station location above the earth in real time, and its somewhere over the USA or Egypt, but not the UK :/

So is she right, is it the International Space Station?
Is the above website out of synch?
or is it a dirty great big mother ship, like that of Independance day hovering over us :p

I was going to say has the sun finally shown it`s face at first?

We could see the ISS from the ground here back in July\August to the naked eye about 2am (Yes just as I was coming back from the pub), we also had the perseids shower about that time & some nights the sky is very iluminated with tinges of green or red, but not the Northern Lights (yet).

I am sure there are a few more pieces of new and old hardware orbiting the earth you could choose from and 200 miles up does not make it invisible to the naked eye. :)

Could be the ISS or any one of many satellites orbiting the earth. I`ve seen quite a few in my time without really going out looking for them.

As most have previously said, it`s most likely the ISS.
I watched it pass over a few times a little while ago when you could see both the ISS and Space Shuttle after they had separated.

This link NASA Tracking will show you its present position in orbit and if you click on the "Sighting Opportunities" button and follow through, you should find the next best times for viewing (looks like about 5:30 and 7:00 AM tomorrow morning - cloud permitting!).

Have you checked the timings of Iridium flares on heavens above? Might also be those.

Tis definitly aliens...

My sister and I were chuffed the other day when we were convinced we saw a UFO...after much poncing about and watching it, we discovered it was a home made hot air balloon...we`re sticking to our UFO story though!
