WTF...Got ID`ed in Asda buying a newspaper ?!!
Went shopping in Asda yesterday, on the way out decided to have a drink and read the newspaper in the cafe. When I went to purchase the paper (Sunday Times, for what it`s worth), the girl on the checkout had to confirm that I was over 16 !!
This country`s going mad !

Nope, no DVD.
Just phoned Asda to complain. They were as surprised as me, appears to be a programming error on the till as there is no age restriction on buying (any) newspapers.
As I said to the lady at Asda, I`d have been far more annoyed if my 14y/old daughter had actually been refused. Though I can`t see her buying a broadsheet at any time in the near future :)

The whole ID thing has gone a bit silly it seems. The worst are supermarkets (especially Morrisons), where they ID you if you look under twenty five and ask you not to get offended. P*** off, I bloody well will get offended. They wouldn`t serve this bloke in the queue ahead of me a while back and he was clearly in his twenties. He was understandably annoyed. Whatever happened to using common sense with this sort of thing? My Mrs got asked for ID in a pub a while back and she was 27 at the time. I was stood next to her - they must have thought I was her dad!

In fairness I don`t take offence at all and to an extent it`s not the supermarkets fault.
The penalties that are in place for them are so high and giving free judgement to a few hundred people on tills, does give a lot of leeway which is why they use the 25 policy to cover their arse.
I got ID`d in Tesco a few weeks back, when buying 28 Weeks Later. Had to laugh as my initial reaction was confusion as I didn`t have any alchohol. :D
Also got ID on the weekend in Asda buying a load of crates etc.
I`m 26 in a couple of months and have been getting served in shops and pubs since I was 13. My problem (or probably advantage) is I looked old for a 13year old, but now apparently I don`t look any older as I`ve hardly changed.
Was actually going to put a picture up to show but don`t have any handy of me here.

My mate was Id`d a couple of years ago in Morrisons for....Red Bull!
He was 32.
I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which i`m dying are the best i`ve ever had.

I think the reason I have a problem with Morrisons is because they`re the supermarket that asked a bloke in his 60s for ID and then refused to serve him when he couldn`t produce any. What made it worse was that the head office defended the decision. How f***ing stupid was the checkout person? Fair enough, some people in the early twenties look younger, but common sense has to factor into it somewhere, surely? It reminds me of that Blue Jam sketch.
RE: WTF...Got ID`ed in Asda buying a newspaper ?!!
Morrisons and the phrase common sense shouldnt be used together in the same sentance!
As for the a**es they employ as security guards!!!
