Page 1 of Hotmail Hacked.....

It has aparantly been around since the stone age but I have just had my hotmail account hacked, all my contacts spammed then deleted using the vacation reply feature.

This is the first time in over 10 years surfing the web I have been hacked or targeted with a malicious piece of software, good going eh?

Still crap I lost my contact list lol

Feel for u, I lost my yahoo account year or so ago, no matter how many times i contacted them i got nowhere, so p***ed of it wasnt true, lost all my contacts in my messenger and never got back into it. :(

Now would be a good time to remind people to back up their contacts :D

If you use Hotmail, then Windows Live Mail can sync your local address book with the Hotmail/Live one. You can then use it to export to another system if you need to.

If you use Google mail, then then there are also options to sync (freely) with your contacts on there.

If you`re still using Windows Address Book, then you can easily specify the location of your .wab file which you can back up whenever you like, as well as export to a CSV or similar.

EDIT: Also - remember to change your webmail passwords regularly (once a month) and keep them complicated enough to not be `guessable` (e.g. include symbols, numbers, letters - upper and lower case) but easy enough to remember for you.

I got into my account again, luck I keep my sent mail, I had to individually go through and copy/paste all my contacts from old mails lol

Ah well could have been worse :)
