Have a Blaupunkt cd stereo in the car (was the one fitted when i bought it) which was working fine till 2 days ago.
Anyhow, switched it on the other day and got the message - Code
Didnt know what the code was so entered 1111 and am now presented with a message saying wait 1 h that does not want to go and the stereo now doesnt play.
Any ideas guys??

1h means the code was incorrect and you`ve got an hour until you can enter another code. Standard security device. Means if someone had nicked the stereo and wanted to try out every permutation of code it would take them up to 9999 hours = 416 days.
Your stereo has lost power has some stage, and it think`s it`s been stolen. you need the code or a master reset or you`re gonna be tapping codes for a very long time

Or you`ll need it reprogrammed with a new code.
IIRC aren`t you around the Glasgow area Kennedy? (or have I mixed you up with someone else...?)
If so, there`s a car parts shop on the Gallowgate approach to the Barras 9opposite side of road further up towards Parkhead) that does decodes, and I`ll also ask me mate on Wednesday as I know he can do Rover radios, but I think that`s the Philips ones similar to mine.

Have you tried removing the radio some people write the code on the unit?
or any car audio place will recode it for you or try googling your make and model as u maybe able to download a recoder based on the serial number.

Check your manual in case it`s written in there. One of my car`s codes was written on the back of the original salesman`s business card tucked in the manual wallet.
I also had a Cavalier that needed the code and the Vauxhall garage were going to charge me £40 to change it so I tried a few (9999, 0000 etc) but then had a brain wave and used the numbers from the number plate with a zero on the end and bingo! I did a little lap of honour round the car... :D

So there is no generic code for the stereo/cd player combo that i have. Ive read the manual now and as you said i have to switch it on and leave it on for an hour for it allow me to try another code. Wont leaving the ignition on for an hour without driving the car drain the battery?
Also cant find any reference to a code anywhere in the manual so am i right in saying itll need fixing at the garage with a recoding? Why would thi have happened in the first place (never remove the stereo or the removable flaceplate and would something like this be covered under warrenty if it was an electrical fault?
Sorry for all the questions but you guys are so helpful that i come here for advice all the time

The reason it happens is the unit has lost power usually if the battery has been removed during a service or body work being completed.
But as all elec gadgets they just go poof sometimes.
What would be helpful is if you could remove the unit and get the model number etc from the label then I can check to see you you can decode it yourself.

Its blaupunkt cd32 or do you need a number off the back of the stereo itself?

RE: Rover 45 Stereo Problem
It`s also possible.... try removing the ashtray and looking on the back.
Rover codes should have been on the wee security card that came with the user manual etc.
Or, as I`m about to do with mine, shove a new head unit in it. The Philips one in mine sounds absolutely scheitte! lol

rover online radio code they charge and if the unit has been recoded they wont get you the right code.
As a precaution they suggest removing the unit to check for stickers stating its been recoded extra
