Easter Bunny
by Mary Brandolino
In memory of all the bunnies we couldn`t save.
I remember Easter Sunday
It was colorful and fun
The new life that I`d begun
In my new cage.
I was just a little thing
When they brought me from the store
And they put me on the floor
In my cage.
They would take me out to play
Love and pet me all the time
Then at day`s end I would climb
In my cage.
But as days and weeks went by
I saw less of them it seemed
Of their loving touch I dreamed
In my cage.
In the night outside their house
I felt sad and so neglected
Often scared and unprotected
In my cage.
In the dry or rainy weather
Sometimes hotter sometimes colder
I just sat there growing older
In my cage.
The cat and dog raced by me
Playing with each other only
While I sat there feeling lonely
In my cage.
Upon the fresh green grass
Children skipped and laughed all day
I could only watch them play
From my cage.
They used to take me out
And let me scamper in the sun
I no longer get to run
In my cage.
Once a cute and cuddly bunny
Like a little ball of cotton
Now I`m grown up and forgotten
In my cage.
I don`t know what went wrong
At the home I did inhabit
I just grew to be a rabbit
In my cage.
But they`ve brought me to the pound
I was once loved and enjoyed
Now I wait to be destroyed
In my cage

I hate rabbits, they are so stupid.
Cheery Poem :(
Our bunny is about six and gets more fuss now than when we first got him as he used to hate being touched....comes over for a stroke and even cuddles occasionally now! :D
I love bunnies!
I have to say that poem is exactly what I saw happening when my daughter wanted one & was encouraged by a family friend to have.
But as husband & as the allegedly alpha male in my home I could`nt argue against 3 females (THO, her mate & my daughter).
Time will tell, it always does - Time & tide proved me right.
I consider myself an optimist, albeit an optimist with cynical tendencies and a dark side that Lucifer himself would find a little creepy. (Perhaps you've noticed.) You don't normally associate cynicism with an upbeat pov. But I have exactly that combination and will defend it.
Heartily glad that I don`t have to learn how to spell Chiwetel Ejiofor.
Well ain`t we just a little ray of f**king sunshine then.
Just what I need after a really crappy nights work.
Snaps
Some days it`s just not worth gnawing through the straps
I thought this was going to be the usual Easter Bunny observation - "He`s a rabbit, where does he get the eggs from?". I don`t know what comic started that gag, but he obviously knows nothing of the Easter Bunny. The Bunny of course buys the eggs wholesale off the Whit Sunday Chicken and gets them painted up by Santa`s Elves while they`re on their spring break. Thought everybody knew that. :p

I didn`t know that! I assumed the easter bunny was just like santa...magic and don`t ask questions! :D
Nobody`s satisfied with "Magic and don`t ask questions" anymore. They always need a credible backstory. Look at all the recent superhero movies - way too much backstory and trying to make the characters realistic(!) I saw a gap in the market - a backstory for the Easter Bunny - and I stepped in. :B
