3D baby scan

bowfer (Elite) posted this on Monday, 11th August 2008, 10:53

For any prospective new parents out there, we went for a 3D scan at a private clinic yesterday.
Initially, we only went for a normal 2D scan, to determine the sex (local NHS trust will not tell you the sex any more :( ).
Once there, we were sold the idea of getting a 3D scan.
Worth every penny, I promise you.
Incredible photos, plus a 12 minute DVD.
Highly recommended. 8)

They wont tell you the sex? That really would have p***ed me off.

Its amazing what you can get on the normal scans though. They picked up a perfect, detailed face of her face while she was yawning and put it on a loop.

My heart actually stopped a little bit.

The Mrs and I are thinking about this. She is 13 weeks gone (fingers crossed this time) and we have seen some of the results of these scans. Any chance you could post it for us to see.

They used to, they did with our first.
Rumours abound as to why they won`t do it now.

I`ll try, but I might need some guidance as to how to extract stuff off a CD-ROM. :/ :D
The stills aren`t as good as the DVD anyway, but still pretty amazing.
I`d recommend it, but too early for you to do it, Jackal.
You`ll get your 2D scan at 20 weeks.
3D scanning isn`t worth doing until around 28 weeks (which is where we are now), as the baby`s skin is still too thin to get a proper image.

All the very best, BTW, Jackal.
We were two miscarriages, then our first came along.
We were one miscarriage, then one ectopic before this one.
Third time lucky, twice. 8)

We had one done, it was great seeing him. But we really only got few minute glimpses as the placenta was at the front and he kept putting his face into it.

Well worth it though.

It`s 2008 for God`s sake. Give me my jetpack, and give me my x-ray goggles. This future is rubbish.

we had to visit an old friend of my wifes recently - more out of obligation than anything else. Lets put it this way - we really didnt want to be there.....

Anyway - turned out she was up the duff and that sat us through 20 minutes of this drivel. As a parent i gotta say its great when its on of your own but by god when its someone elses it was boring..... :D
