Hats banned in Yorkshire Pubs - help fight terror
He, He, this so called `war on terror` is just getting silly now :D
Pubs in Yorkshire have been ordered in the last week to ban people from wearing flat caps or other hats so troublemakers can be more easily recognised.
The Park Hotel in Wadsley, Sheffield, is the latest to be asked to impose the rule by senior police officers.
Mark Kelly, the landlord said: "Police asked us to ensure that everyone removes headgear.
"With pensioners, by the time they sit down their hats always come off anyway because they were brought up with manners so usually take their hats off indoors."
The measure, designed to prevent people from obscuring their faces from CCTV cameras, has been questioned by Barnsley`s former Test umpire Dickie Bird, 75, well-known for his favoured white flat cap.
He said: "Asking a Yorkshireman to take off his flat cap -- whoever heard of anything so silly.
Yet, another bit of red tape nonsence, imposed on us.
Its enough to drive you to drink, well, not in a Yorkshire pub :p

This is hardly something new.
I can think of at least one Aberdeen pub that makes you remove baseball caps etc, and has done for years.
I wear baseball caps, from time to time.
It`s automatic to take it off, why anyone would want to keep it on is beyond me.
Next.

yeah.. i dont think i have ever been allowed to keep a cap on in a bar or whereever.. and i am a baldy..
its f***ing discrimination!

Why is is automatic ?
A baldie like me always wears a skip hat, and I never take it off when in public areas, inside or out, unless I want to.
I will not have any sod dictating whether a hat comes off or on.
This CCTV stuff has just went crazy.

Because it is, just like putting a brolly down or taking your coat off. :/
F***, if I were a landlord I`d probably change my door policy on a daily basis, just for the bloody hell of it.
"Ooh, no own-brand jeans mate, look " (points to felt pen notice written on paperbag)

But it`s not for "no apparent reason", is it.
They`re telling you it`s for CCTV purposes.
Pubs have had this power of veto for years.
No trainers, no football colours, no jeans, no Burberry etc.etc.etc.
Now no hats, which, if anything, is much more understandable than some of the above.

So no reason then for CCTV cameras to target me, im not a feckin criminal, im going into a business to spend my money on their services, not to be spied on!! What next take ur wig off? ffs
RE: Hats banned in Yorkshire Pubs - help fight terror
i would make people take wigs off.. they let the side down..

You know that, but they don`t. CCTV is as much for your own protection anyway, as it is for anyone elses.
If you got glassed in a pub, but they couldn`t pick the guy out on CCTV as he was wearing a baseball cap which obscured his face, how would you feel?
