TV repair...AGHHH!!

Hi all..

A few weeks ago, i noticed that the red dots in black areas on my plasma were getting worse, so having the extended guarantee it decided to get something done about it.

The very first set I had lasted 3 weeks before a line appeared on the screen on all imputs & had to be swapped for a brand new TV...In the meantime, the 3 year cover wasn`t added on to the new TV reciept, hence a frantic search for the first reciept (which luckily i`d kept, as there was another item on there!).

A local repair company picked up the TV on the 7th of Jan, with the guy saying it should be returned/repaired within a week...Well no contact from them, so today I ring the repair company who tell me that Richer Sounds have ordered the wrong part >:( .

I get on the phone to RS (in all honesty, the guy who answered sounded like he couldn`t give a toss - A different story when you`re spending £1500 with them), who told me "To call their customer service dept"..After being cut off whilst being "transferred">:( , the bloke on the phone told me that "Yes, they had sent the wrong part to the repair company" & on checking for the right part then told me "There was no ETA on the part I needed!!

"I`ll call you later today......Or Monday, to let you know what`s happening"...You can bet yer life it won`t be today!

I know it`s only 2 weeks (on Monday), but how long would you guys give them to shift their asses & get it fixed?...I`m sitting here staring at a bracket on the wall & a hole with wires hanging out!

Rant over ;)

Cheers,
Mark.

bug the hell out of them, untill you get some satisfaction, and if your not happy then demanding a replacement,
i always find you get a better response if you can go down to the store and and see the guy in charge (it helps if the shop has customers).

I thought about calling instore tbh...The TV is 2 years old in April, so i`m thinking a replacement may not be an option (yet)...Don`t they have some "small print" in these extended warrantes that after a certain period (5 weeks?) or if the TV cannot be repaired, then a replacement will be given? :/

It`s just annoying that their incompitance (by sending the wrong part) is now going to delay it by another week or two :( .

Cheers,
Mark. :)

Have you never made a mistake?

Oh, for the people how come in and kick up a riot in the shop in front of other customers, claiming they know there rights (they usually don`t) You will usually get the bare minimum required by law as you have failed the attitude test. If you are polite and not shouting at me I will bend over backwards to help you. Do you like being shouted at when you are at work?

As Doc says above, my uncle used to be a store manager, and he often said if ppl came in who had a problem. or the customer had made a genuine mistake, and were being nice and polite, asking for help, he would do as much as possible to help. If however customer came in shouting, f-ing and blinding demanding things, he would make sure he had to speak to head office first etc.

I`m liek that at work. Some-one comes in shouting I have to fix their email imediately, I`m in the middle of doing something vital and they`ll have to wait 1hr or so, but if they ask nicely, then I`m not too busy and will go help straight away :) It`s amazing how those shouty ppl never learn though :(

No intentions of shouting at anyone..I worked in Dixons for 2 years, so I know how it feels to be on the other side of the fence! :)

UPDATE...

Well..It`s coming up to 3 weeks now..Still no TV.

Richer Sounds have now resent the right part (after sending the wrong part last week) & guess what...........IT`S FAULTY >:(

I`m getting really p****d off now!

Do any of you think i`m eligible for an exchange or refund? (please be aware that it`s now in the extended guarantee period)

Coments & advice welcome :/

Rant over (again) ;) .

Cheers,
Mark.

*****************UPDATE (Part II)*******************
