Heroes Volume 3: Villains Official Thread

Preview of Volume 3 Villains I`ve just come across, appears to be camera footage of the preview. Don`t think they`ve actually cleared when Volume 3 will start yet.

Linkage

I only randomly came across it when I was getting a link to episode 5 of season 2 for my brother`s girlfriend (I`ve lost my copy).

I don`t think it`s been posted before.

Although the writers strike is apparently over, there will be no new Heroes until September. >:(

Hi Guys,

I`ve been extremely busy here at the Berlin Film Festival having already screened a dozen movies. Full reports on those to follow soon. But first I wanted to pass along some bad news -

Today I got to spend 20 minutes with everyone`s favorite cheerleader, Hayden Panettiere. She is promoting her new film FIREFLIES IN THE GARDEN. Anyway, she confirmed that even though the strike is over, Heroes is definitely done for the season. New shooting will not start until April which she will arrive a bit late for as she will be finishing up another film in Canada. So I guess we have to wait until at least September. Full transcription of that interview coming after the festival.

Ciao for now

The series needs a rest anyway. The last season was utter s***e, after a promising start.

My advice to anyway who hasn`t seen the 2nd season is to skip it, because the stories and characters barely developed.

If you`re interested, here`s what happened:

SPOILER:
At the beginning, Sylar had no powers. At the end, he got them back. Some minor (and insignificant) characters perished along the way, and there was storylines with a Mexican chick and Sark from Alias that went nowhere. The entire season was all summed up in a montage at the end of the last episode.

I fully agree with your points, but I`ve got confidence that the show "could" turn around. It`s the fact that Tim Kring (the creator) has came out and admitted that the love stories didn`t suit them and admitted all the short flaws of season 2 rather than saying it`s all part of the big picture.

My main issue that I think has potentially ruined the show from redemption is that
SPOILER:

No death matters. Every character can come back with some of Clare or Adam`s blood.

Another main contention that I have is that the only people that have "died", have been characters that I don`t care about and have gone in terribly undramatic ways.

The only proper death that has been done well (when they`ve stayed dead) was DL`s death in series 1 and then they f***ed that up by bringing him back in a flashback.

Lost I actually really lost all faith with, but really impressed with me with the way they handled Charlie`s death since I`d been hoping it would happen again since he first "came back" in series 1.

I think they`ve now changed their "world" in such a way that`s hard to reverse that now, as even if they don`t do it for 6 seasons there`s always the sneaky suspicion that they will pull it back out of their arse again.

^ exactly what I was going to post.

I`m glad season 2 was only short as it meant they couldn`t dig themselves a deep hole crap-storyline-wise; although Tim Kring did hold his hands up to it before the strike, IIRC.

I`m looking forward to it coming back in September, but I`m not nearly as excited/impatient as I am about Pushing Daisies.

From TV.com

Quote:
Good news and bad news for Heroes fans. Good news first: Heroes, as everyone knows, is coming back...but what people didn`t know is that it`s coming back big, according to NBC-owned SciFi.com.

The return for the superhero saga has been set for September 15, but here`s the kicker--it`s going to be a three-hour event. The season three premiere will be preceded by a one-hour "clip show" catching people up on the first two seasons/volumes, and the premiere itself will be a two-hour episode, which NBC TV exec Ben Silverman calls a "massive two-hour Heroes film."

It was previously revealed that "Chapter Three" would be subtitled "Villains," and focus on ordinary people with extraordinary abilities who use their new found powers for the not-so-good.

Now for the bad news. The proposed stand-alone Heroes spin-off Heroes: Origins is officially dead--for now. Originally designed to expand the Heroes universe while the show was white-hot, Origins was slated to have guest directors and tell stories of new heroes, one of which would eventually be folded into the regular show.

"We were taxing our creative team to do too much around that," Silverman said at the NBC upfront presentation to advertisers in New York yesterday. "We wanted 35 Heroes [episodes] and 12 Heroes: Origins, each of which was supposed to be a mini-movie and backdoor pilot. We reached far and challenged our people, and we decided it was better to focus on keeping the Heroes mothership as strong as possible."

There`s a new promo out.

Doesn`t really show anything but confirms that the "ending" last season was the same old, same old bollocks as Nathan Petrelli is in it.

They`re going with the tag

"In every Hero there could be a villain for this season."

I have to agree that series 2 was awful, but a lot of the blame has to go on the writers strike, the series started out well but they tries to cram half a regular season into the last 2 or 3 episodes making the second half of an already short series just a jumbled mess of trying to conclude sorylines, quickly kill off minor characters who had taken up most of the season already and hurry to the ending so everythings set up for season 3. If they do a `catchup` show before the start of series 3 that should contain enough of season 2 for anyone to need to know what went on

With all the pomp and promo overdose for series 2 on the BBC I can see a lot of folks being very disappointed, cant blame the BBC though as they probably paid a fortune for this dead duck of a season :/

The problem for me wasn`t the rush caused by the strike, but right from the beginning of the season it was just too plodding and the new storylines were duds: DL coming back to life, Maya and Alejandro, rubbish new characters in general, even Hiro in Japan.

I don`t mind if Nathan comes back to life (I like him), but if Niki and her niece aren`t properly dead then I`m not going to be happy.

I read an interview with Tim Kring in which he was saying that the first season started out slow and the pace became so visceral towards the end that, when they returned in season 2 with a slower pace, a lot of people couldn`t adapt. I had no problem with the show slowing down a little - my main problem with S2 was the stupid things the characters did eg, Claire being a stupid bitch and paying zero attention to HRG and getting found out as soon as possible, her punch-in-the-face-worthy boyfriend, Nikki and Pau... um, whatever they were called... I could go on.

SPOILER:
Also, I read that both Niki and Jessica are dead, but Ali Larter will return as "someone else we have seen before". :/
