Lazy drivers

bowfer (Elite) posted this on Wednesday, 28th November 2007, 12:05

I need a rant, so sod you all. ;)
Where I work, we have a single carriageway road connects us with the main road.
This road has two sets of lights on it.
It`s hopelessly inadequate for the volume of traffic, so you have to rely on everyone `squeezing up` as we all crawl along at walking pace.
Last night, knobber in old Polo decides to leave HUUUUGE gaps between him and the traffic in front.
So you`re watching the traffic accelerate away from this twat, whilst he sits there.
God knows what he`s thinking, probably something along the lines of "no point, I`ll only have to stop".
The f***ing point is, his ridiculous gap means twenty people behind us don`t get moved at all, and the `flow` is ruined.
So, was I right to continually hassle him to `speed up`, using main beam and horn?
(there may have been some "GET A FOOKING MOVE ON" hand signals too, sorry...

It`s that type of person that really irritates me. It`s like when you`re itching to get through traffic lights, and the person in front really dawdles, leaving a big gap in front of him. By the time you get to the lights, they`ve gone red, but the driver in front has still managed to get through! Arghhh!

Totally correct. I hate light dawdlers. If I am 6 or seven back in the cue at the lights I am ready to move as the lights change. More often than not I will be moving before the person at the front has even touched their hand break. This usually goes for all the people in front of me too. This mean that very often only 3 cars will get through, when we all could have.

I hate them. I want them to die. (but please pull out of my way first)

Yeah, if he tailgated like all the other `normal` drivers, you would have got home a whole 10 seconds earlier.

Is is still tailgating if you`re going walking pace?
Dunno, point is there is a happy medium between keepin up with the flow and dawdling.
Drivers that aren`t in a hurry, or are incapable of driving at a decent speed, annoy the f*** out of me, to be honest.
Like a woman at the head of another queue the other night.
Doing 35mph in a 60 zone.
I`d like to think she was blissfully unaware, which is bad enough, but there`s always a part of me that thinks she`s just arrogant.
Seriously, if you`re not in a hurry, or you`re uncomfortable, just pull over eh? :/
I`m sure the highway code mentions this, actually.

At one junction near me, due to lazy driving it can add 5 mins to a journey. And that is just one set. It is not a mater of tailgating. But being aware of the lights and other road users. Box junctions for instance. The traffic starts moving. You all move forward. There is room for all of you to clear the box junction. But they don`t move up and take up the room of another car leaving some poor sod half in the box junction.

I would all so suggest that it is hard to tail gate at 1mph.
