Took my mum to see a psychic - Colin Fry....
Took my mum to Manchester Opera House a couple of weeks ago to see this psychic chap. I have seen him on the telly and have been quite impressed.
Having seen him live, I`ve got to be honest, I am no longer as open minded as I was. Before I was 85% believer and 15% non believer. Even though this guy is supposed to be one of the top bods I am now 45% believer and 55% non.
The place was full to brimming and at £20 a pop I`ll bet he made a decent tidy sum.
I have had one psychic experience before when a customer of mine predicted the day my second son would be born and she was bob on. I didn`t give her anything to get the date...
Do you think these guys/gals are genuine or just creaming in on the needy?
RE: Took my mum to see a psychic - Colin Fry....
Fry/Edwards and others are phuqen bawjawwed cretins who prey and prosper at the expense of those who have lost a loved one.
If they help someone find an inner peace then all good and well but to benefit financially to the degree these phuqwits benefit is shameful.

Im sorry but i dont believe in these so called psychics, mostly because they are in it for the money obviously, i was always led to believe that these people couldnt use their "gift" to make money, cant remember off hand where (one of these legendary well known facts perhaps?) but the ones on tv for me are obvious frauds.

Would that be the gift of the magic wand?

Well I guess you must have told her that you were going to have a baby, so that narrows it down to 270 days (aprox). Now I guess we can take a couple of months off to give you time to actually find out and then start telling people who are not close friends and family.
210 days. Now, taking an educated guess that you would have waited a couple of months to tell me I could count on those 210 days and give you a date that is probably be within 5 days either way. So a 1 in 10 chance of getting it right. Not bad odds and if I had got it wrong you would not remember that I had predicted a date. You only remember if I out of nowhere I get it right.

I`m split over this subject.
On one hand, there are umpteen Charlatans out there, one of he biggest being that Liverpudlian ex-footballer twat that works on `Most Haunted`.
Jesus, even one of his own producers resigned because he proved he was a charlatan.
On the other hand though, I`ve seen some pretty remarkable ones.
There`s a Glaswegian hairdresser bloke that doesn`t go for the big publicity.
He calls himself the most accurate medium in Britain?
He`s the only one I`ve seen that, instead of coming out with crap like "I`m getting name with the letter M", tells people the full names of the people he`s allegedly making contact with, with stunning accuracy.
Now how the hell do you argue with that, taking it as read that it`s not a set-up and the people aren`t stooges.

Is he a millionaire?

If this medium does what you say on any kind of consistent basis then the truly remarkable thing is that he isn`t world famous/stinking rich.

I think i`ve found the inconsistency with your argument. It is indeed impossible to argue with, if you a priori accept there aren`t any shenanigans going on.

It`s called editing. :) They only show the "hits" not the misses, and the performance may take 2 hours whereas the show as aired is 45 minutes plus ads...
He`s about as psychic as Derren Brown is - not at all. Note that Derren Brown doesn`t claim to be and doesn`t use his talent to emotionally abuse people by pretending to talk to (or for) their dead loved ones. >:(
The fake psychics use the same technique as Derren Brown - cold reading. It`s a parlour trick. You can buy books on it and teach yourself to do it.
Watch this, you might find it very enlightening:

The whole of that episode is very good ("Penn & Teller: Bulls***!" 1x01 "Talking to the dead"), as is the South Park episode "The Biggest Douche in the Universe" about John Edward.

And they`d deserve to get ripped off by the f***er for being so gullible if they didn`t have their judgement clouded by grief. :( :(

That`s not psychic ability, that`s guessing. She had a 1 in 365 chance, even better if she knew your wife was pregnant already; and would you still remember her "prediction" if she was wrong? If you think she even *might* be psychic, next time you see her tell her to get online and apply to the James Randi Foundation for testing; there`s $1,000,000 (still...) up for grabs for anyone who can demonstrate their "powers" for scientific testing. :)

Christ, I thought I was cynical, but you take the biscuit. :/
Is it not possible that he doesn`t want huge fame and money?
I know some fantastic musicians, yet they`re not all banging on EMI`s doors.
To suggest that anyone with a `gift` must seek fame and fortune is stupid.

Dead true - and thats why when he tours it takes a full day to stick in his `bits and bobs` before a show. Very nice chap though
