The arrest and the closure of the site - www.tv-links.co.uk - came during an operation by officers from Gloucestershire County Council trading standards in conjunction with investigators from Fact and Gloucestershire Police.

Fact claims that tv-links.co.uk was providing links to illegal film content that had been camcorder recorded from cinemas and then uploaded to the internet. The site also provided links to TV shows that were being illegally distributed.

*Surely* if this gets to court the judge will throw it out. No actual copyrighted files were hosted there!

Oh the poor dears. I suppose they`ll have to console themselves somehow with the £2,000,000,000,000 profit they made last year...

isn`t the quality of these "on demand" places allways quite low ? wouldn`t it be easier to just download them the normal way via torrent etc ? :)

still sad to see yet another good site disappear tho :(

Ehh... well it was reasonable, certainly watchable. The divx ones were better than the Flash ones.

No. Someone on 1 or 2 Mb could just watch online straight away without having to spend 40 minutes-ish downloading first. Also good for people at work, etc. Being able to find something that I just want to watch once or just have on in the background (so video quality not being an issue) was more convenient for me than even spending 90 seconds to 3 minutes downloading from Usenet.
