Ramadan starts tomorrow - month of fasting

FYI.
The month of Ramadan starts tommorrow (Muslims follow a lunar calendar)
In that month Muslims are not allowed to drink/eat/smoke during sunlight. So from 5am till 7.30pm no food or water. Good luck to all those trying to keep the fast.

Its going to be difficult as I normally need a can of red bull to get me through the afternoon at work.

There`s an interesting article on this on the BBC.

Go that way, really fast. If something gets in your way, turn...

And those who dance will spin and turn,
And those who wait will wait no more,
And those who talk will hear the words,
And those who see will fade and die,
And those who laugh will surely fall,
And those who know will always feel their backs against the thin wall...

Hide somewhere and have a nap. Then you can stay up later to eat more! :D

Ramadan is crazy. It sure shows a hell of a lot of willpower, so hats for doing it. I could NEVER do it, it just doesn`t sound healthy to me (though must be a great way to lose weight). ;)

I am tempted to try this. Just to see how long I can last. Must be very hard though, but then again I could do with losing a few pounds. ;)

I lasted a day + a half when I tried it with a friend at work.
It was the lack of water that got me.

Can`t imagine it`s good for weight loss,as you`ll probably have the urge to devour everything in sight as soon as the street lights come on.
I bloody would.
Out of sheer interest, are diabetics allowed to ignore it ?

It`s not about will power more like using your brain, if you gorge yourself on food during the night, you're not so hungry the next day.

Mind you the not being able to drink during the day is a bummer, especially now that we`ve been having some really nice weather.

I dont know if extends to adults, but the kids at our school were allowed to eat barley sugars to keep their energy up, so I would think the same thing would probably apply.

Though there are some exceptions, fasting during Ramadan is obligatory for every fit and able Muslim over the age of puberty.
