Washing Machine Problem

kebabhead (Elite) posted this on Thursday, 28th June 2007, 11:48

Our Bosch washing machine of 7 years is starting to smell foisty(sp)

I`ve tried to elimate the smell by doing a few 90 degree boil washes as well as cleaning the filter and leaving the door open but the smell returns

I`ve noticed that there is mould on the rubber door seal but the smell is definately coming from the drum

Just wondering if any else has experienced a similar thing with their washing machine and what they did to cure it

Check to see if the rubber is degrading i.e feels soft or cracking, this can smell, though the only rubber usually on a drum is around the front door seal and over the exterior drum casing, as suggested white vinegar and chuck ur tea towels in to help balance the drum would be a good start - sometimes over use of the powders/concentrated detergents can leave build ups on the interior of the drum (not where u stuff ur undies) which can get a bit yukky, have a look in the detergent draw as well and look for animal growth... (black mould) :o

After 7years its suprising what can grow.....

Funnily enough Ive had exact same problem last week or so. Had already arranged for engineer to come out today for a knocking noise and he said a cup of bleach on a hot wash should solve the problem.
Did this after he left and then went out myself happy that my machine had stopped knocking (belt problem) and would smell sweet again..................came home to a flooded bloody kitchen floor >:( After lugging the VERY heavy machine out I found the stupid t**t had knocked the outlet pipe out of the back hence a very soggy floor. Cross doesnt begin to explain how I feel and Im currently waiting for them to ring me as they `cant send an engineer til the 13th july` >:( >:( Arrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhh
(and by the way it still f**king smells!)

Juls, see if there is anything caught in the waste trap. I think it will be behind the plastic kick plate at the front.

Have a towel handy as you turn the knob and pull out the plug.

My guess is something will be in there and and smelling.

Let us know if its anything interesting or embarrassing!

Yeah.......... sounds like the Washing Machine has actually been possessed by an Evil Spirit !?

Your going to need to surround the Fridge with Onion`s ( 23p a packet at Tesco ), while shouting the word`s ;

" GET BEHIND THEE, DEVIL "
" GET BEHIND THEE, DEVIL "
" GET BEHIND THEE, DEVIL "
" GET BEHIND THEE, DEVIL "
" GET BEHIND THEE, DEVIL "
" GET BEHIND THEE, DEVIL "

Then you`re going to need 2 pint`s of virgin`s blood ( Tesco are doing them at the moment at 67p a pint ), Drink the blood and then Punch your stomach three times and jump up and down until you feel sick, lick one of the onion`s then wait about 2 day`s ( feel free to eat anything, except egg`s ( 37p per 6 pack at Tesco? )) and poop into the Washer (Not in front of anyone else though ?), pee should be kept in a bucket until further notice just in case we need to take it to "Stage 2 repair", The washer should now be fine, if not please feel free to ask for the stage two repair....... ( or not ? )

K ( bored ?! sorry !? )

Have shouted, kicked, sworn profusley (sp) and have not got any closer to solving the problem - hate being beaten by something so stupid >:( ..............anyone want to pop round to see if they can shift the bloody thing - have bakewell tarts and beer :D
