Page 1 of How would i send a set of alloy wheels through the post? (Bowfer?)

I`m putting a set of alloys on flea bay and obviously i`ll have more success at selling them if i offer postage......erm......problem is how would i do that practically speaking? I have no boxes etc - would couriers take them as is?

answer is no couriers wont take them as is... you will need to bubble wrap and then box them, no more than two in a box due to weight... will cost anywhere from £30 upwards to get shipped!

What are they, i am in the market for a set of alloys 100pcd.

I`ve seen them posted before with flat bits of cardboard over the face and bac of the wheel just taped to each other with brown parel tape.

That protects the finish of the alloy o.k (as long as the handlers treat them o.k)

Although collection only still fetches a good price as people are prepared to drive a few miles for something that heavy...after all it`s gonna cost £40-£50 for postage which is a fair bit of fuel.

I think i`ll just whack on £50 postage.....i`ll cross that bridge when i get there. I`ve got loads of fruit boxes/cardboard in the garage so i`ll probably just send it like that.....

Mark - they`re a set of BMW MV II style 18" alloys. the problem is one has a slight crack in it so it would be best going to someone who can refurb them. They`re not in good nick in all honesty.

Try looking for a `man with a van` type courier on ebay. If you`re lucky you might find a huge roll of bubble wrap cheap at a local garden/farm supplies store to wrap them.

Oh, and I`d not quote a price unless you`ve already asked around, you don`t want to quote and then find it costs double. Maybe offer postage but not quote a price until asked, or say the buyer has to arrange their own courier?

I`d be careful on this one, check out this thread to give you an idea of possible costs and problems involved. Talking to someone at work today and they said about items being listed on ebay with something like "postage at cost" to cover the postage

Out of interest, a friend of mine imported a set of wheels for his Bug from the States, without problem, but they were individually wrapped first to help ensure that they arrived unmarked.

I sold a set of wheels (with tyres) on ebay and I sent them via Staples! They use DHL as the courier and it cost me £18 iirc. I cardboarded the faces and wrapped them up in rubble sacks in pairs. Cheapest I could find! ;)
