Make it so...

RE: Pii450 is immortal

I use Asunder for my rips - does what it`s supposed to!

RE: Satnav advice please

What about a cheapo navigo from ebuyer? Runs tomtom7 fine ;)

RE: The Linux Thread

I did try to tell you guys...LOL

Glad you like it - Clem and the team are doing a fantastic job.

RE: The Linux Thread

I use Mint and I`m well chuffed with it. It does seem a little snappier than Ubuntu and it does come with some extra tools that Ubuntu is lacking - the days of it just been Ubuntu with drivers are long gone...

Found this today
http://custom.nimblex.net/
It lets you make a custom liveCD - pretty nifty!

Ditch XP and put a real OS on there.... ;)

RE: DJ Shadow, UNKLE, RJD2, DJ Yoda, DJ Format; anybody else listen to these?

Endtroducing is the best Dj Shadow album - it is a modern classic.

RE: X360 - 10 Free Live Arcade games free(ish)

Sorry for the delay - I`ll sort it this weekend!

RE: X360 - 10 Free Live Arcade games free(ish)

roar349,

I`ll be your friend :)

RE: Ubuntu is officially rubbish and much worse than Vista, or Windows 3.11

I`ve got Ubuntu Feisty Fawn on my Laptop and LinuxMint on my desktop - So far LinuxMint has proved to be superior.

RE: are

Don`t get a Dbox or a Dbox2 - they can be about 10 years old now so good ones are hard to find.

If you like tinkering and can use basic FTP/networking get a Dreambox - very stable and quick. If not, get a Eurovox/Euromax - basic, simple telly!

RE: Got a dodgy copy of Vista?

I`ve got Ubuntu on my laptop and Linux Mint on my desktop - both work great and are noticeably quicker than XP on the same systems. My wireless card on the laptop even works better than it did in XP!

Probably going to change the Ubuntu on the laptop to linux mint - it seems a much more "complete" install (all codecs by default, better software choice, etc). Its great!

RE: installed ubuntu, lost xp....

Its crappy when that happens, but look on the bright side - atleast now you won`t have to delete your windows partition at a latter date when you find ubuntu does all you need ;)

RE: Freespire( Linux or any other versions being used out there)

I`ve got ubuntu on my laptop dualbooting with xp. Once I got the wireless sorted (thanks to the ubuntuforums.org ;) ) it proved to be an excellent OS. Put it this way, I haven`t booted into XP in about 4 months now...

RE: How would i send a set of alloy wheels through the post? (Bowfer?)

I sold a set of wheels (with tyres) on ebay and I sent them via Staples! They use DHL as the courier and it cost me £18 iirc. I cardboarded the faces and wrapped them up in rubble sacks in pairs. Cheapest I could find! ;)

RE: Ogster - help with TP-Link router needed!

I`m trying to get it to work with no encryption at the moment.

I ordered the blue one but I got sent the new white one - I think they are the same internally.

Its really doing my head in - for the life of me I can`t see what is wrong!

Ogster - help with TP-Link router needed!

I have recently purchased a TP LINK wireless router to replace my netgear one after hearing good things about the signal strength (which can be pants on the netgear).

I installed and set it up yesterday and through wired connections it is great. Wireless however is a different story...

My 360 (and wireless adaptor) can "see" the network but it will not connect to it whereas with the netgear it would sail through.

Any ideas or is it faulty?

Stu

RE: Automatic car washers -safe for metallics?

Ditto the above - these machines will introduce swirls in the paint. Swirls are tiny scratches that you can`t feel but they cause a hazy reflection, almost like holograms - in direct sunlight or lights they look terrible. The only way to remove them is to machine polish them.

The best way to wash your car is using two buckets - one to rinse in so the grit doesn`t get dragged across your paint. Also use a lambs wool or microfibre mitt - a sponge offers no protection!

Sounds extreme, but most people`s cars are their second largest investment after their house so it makes sense to look after it.

RE: Anyone have a G6 lite for your Nintendo DS?

The R4 is totally drag and drop...

Review

RE: Anyone have a G6 lite for your Nintendo DS?

I`ve got the R4 and its brilliant - easy to use and does exactly what its supposed to do ;)

I got mine from www.supercardstore.com

RE: Xbox as PVR?

Sorry for the delay Oggster!

I don`t think you can record one and watch another - the xbmc script just controls the dbox similar to the box`s built in yweb.

RE: Xbox as PVR?

http://www.xbmc.de/xbmc/download.php?view.196

Is one that streams it - I can`t find the link to the one that can record. Sorry!

RE: Xbox as PVR?

If you use a dbox2, you can install a plugin that will stream to xbmc and record too - I haven`t used it though, jus` heard about it.

RE: Fuji Finepix S5600 - £112.49 Argos - AGAIN!!

Thanks for that Badboybez - ordered one to go with the bargain camera ;)

RE: GPX Navigator

£19.99 at the Staples in Merry Hill (Dudley) - my sister and cousin have just bought one each.

I picked up a Road Angel 2 (ex display) for £60!

RE: AWESOME! Just how good is the Ford TDCi engine in the Mondeo!

Quote:
Worst around is,again without a doubt, the VAG (VW/Audi) unit, which still uses the PD (pumpe deuse) technology, when everyone and their granny is using common-rail.

Are you mental? The PD engine is an amazing piece of kit - The advantage of the PD system is superior injection pressure - up to 2050 bars compared with around 1600 bar for the best common rail systems. Which means more torque at low engine speeds and increased efficiency - cheaper to run AND more fun to drive!

I have the 130PD in my golf and I`ve had it remapped to 180BHP and it flys.

RE: dirt devil pressure washers £9.99 in sainsburys

Cheers OP - got one today and its pretty good for cleaning the car and windows.
