ARGOS Are A Joke Refuses To Exchange Faulty Item Under Guarentee.

I Bought a Super Fast George Foreman Fat Reducing Grilling Machine. In the sale £49.99 11/12/05 and this Item has stopped working

I have just tried to exchange it as it still Under Guarentee, + i had the reciept, but i have been refused, Why! because it`s now £99.99, i have to pay an extra £50.00, then they will exchange.

I feel very angry about this, is this right? is there anything i can do?.

Don`t know if this wil help??

Had an ACER TFT screen from them - had a three year guarrantee with them. It went on the blink 11 months in - went to my local and the git at the till said tough he can`t give me a new one. Came home and called head office. They said this chap was wrong and said I will be able to take it into a store and either get a full refund or swap for an `alike` model.
So took it back to another store and without quibble exchanged it - got a newer model that was £65.00 cheaper - so got £65.00 in vouchers.
If I were you I`d contact customer services - in the least you should expect your original purchase price of £49.99 back.

Read up on the Sale of Goods Act, print out if necessary. Go back in and once they know you know your rights you will get a replacement.

Go back and ask for manager. Argos have a legal obligation to resolve this position. It aint your fault the price went up. They will simply send back to manufacturer and get replacement. if you want additional backup speak to local tarding standards.

The manager at Argos may try and cut his losses and offer a refund (of your lower original price). If you want the item tell him you would just for him to replce the item. If he says know then DONT take the refund and ask him for the number of the customer services department at head office (this sometimes focuses their mind - bad customer feedback etc)

The main point though is THEY HAVE GOT TO DO SOMETHING!

This happed to me with a portable dvd player, I paid £199, when it stopped working it was down to £149 (now down to £79!!)

They refused a refund but were happy to exchange...I was happy with that.
