To give your life for your religion would give you the 72 virgins, BUT when this was stated the religion of Islam was used to control a land/country (Saudi Arabia 620AD) and was under attack and at war as a country. So its to give your life to defend your country. If you were to die defending your home and family from a burgular then the 72 await you.
To commit suicide, to attack non combatants, women and children gives you the aformentioned room in hell. No room service and no virgins.

Just to add a further point to rehans reply, Islam does not even permit the burning down of crops belonging to the `enemy` during times of war - let alone the killing of innocent men, women and children - so this so called label of `Islamic` terrorism is bull**it. You cannot kill non-combatants in the name of Islam - period!
Just cos some nutters think they are doing something for their religious beleifs does not make it correct and part of the religion. I think a minority of people of all religions have done some seriously mental stuff in the name of religion. Personally I think someone who is prepared to blow himself probably belongs in a loony bin.

What is worrying me is that there seems to be a sizeable chunk of the population willing to assume these people are innocent and any evidence is made up/circumstantial just because they hate the government... >:(
