Shed a tear? No way, TOTP died a death years ago, maybe i`m getting old (40) but all this rap and dance crap put me off watching music shows long ago, i love all music but not that drivel.

Made me laugh they`ve dusted of Jimmy Saville, he was doing interviews on thursday (when they recorded it) and he was saying

Most tv shows don`t last 40 days, let alone 42 years, so ¦ think the people behind it should be extremely proud

He`s kidding surely? They`ve run it into the f***ing ground and it`s been cancelled. They`re not stopping it by choice Jim....

Remember they said Dr Who was never coming back but it came back with a vengence. I wonder if someone with a few ounces of the grey matter can perhaps put it on with a more family feel say once a month, in the future. If they mixed the better of today`s music with artists from the 60s 70s 80s (the glory years) & maybe the 90s live it would be a format that a lot more would watch. Over the last few years I`ve been to concerts with artists from all those era`s & they are still rockin` & lookin` good.

You mean Top of the Pops 2? Hosted by Steve Wright? Been running for years?

What they should do is compile every episode and release a TOTP boxset for each year, priced at around £25 for each one. 8 discs with just the shows on it. Won`t need extras...

Go that way, really fast. If something gets in your way, turn...

And those who dance will spin and turn,
And those who wait will wait no more,
And those who talk will hear the words,
And those who see will fade and die,
And those who laugh will surely fall,
And those who know will always feel their backs against the thin wall...

1991 and 1994 would really suck.

16 weeks of Bryan Adams and 15 weeks of Wet Wet Wet respectively. :o

I suppose there`s always Celebrity Love Island for the presenters.

Why would anyone want to buy 1991 and 1994 anyway?

Couldn`t agree more - I reckon it will return in a few years. The problem is that the BBC decided a few years ago to bury it in the 7:30 slot against Corrie (exactly what they did with Dr Who funnily enough). It would help if they weren`t so reliant on the 30 minutes running time. I remember in the early 80`s before EastEnders it would run for up to 50 minutes if acts were available to perform live.

It`s a shame that it`s gone out with such a whimper - for a show that`s run for over 40 years, a primetime slot on BBC1 should have a been sorted.
