The Usual Suspects?

Wedge G (Elite) posted this on Sunday, 7th October 2001, 23:25

I have had this on vhs for a while, and with it being shown tonight on c4, I have looked for the dvd version. To my horror, all I have found is that it used to be on disc, but that it has been deleted (blackstar). I checked Play247, both regions, and still no joy.

Why would they delete such a great film (One of my all time top 5 movies)? Is there a new, better edition on its way?

yes there is. If you want u can get the region 4 version(still available, same as region 2 version) or the much better region 1 version(with no english subs) I hear there is a better version on the way. There should be anyway

I bought mine from eBay UK for £14.00 (r1) well worth it. You can usually stumble across a few copies every day. (he says with fingers crosse as he checks ebay out)

I brought mine when it was first released on region 1, a good dvd if i recall. but dont worry mate, the reason is been deleted is because its being re-released on DVD, probably a special edition.

The original version of the DVD was known for its terrible quality and I can justify this as a friend bought it in the early days of the DVD format, and the quality is no better than VHS.

Anyway, more to the point is that I read on ceefax this week that MGM are releasing a special edition this year and like you I agree that this is truly a great film. Fingers crossed for quality and quantity in the near future.

Yep, I got The Usual Suspects cheap in the US and the quality is pretty ropey.
