Ebay Rip Off, When Did They Start Charging 17.5% on Final Value Fee
Hi.
I`ve just noticed ebay Charging 17.5% on Final Value Fee,
i`m sure it was 3.5% at one time on each item.
Can anyone confirm?
And if right, how long have they been Charging 17.5%
Thanks.

I think they are charging VAT @ 17.5% on the Final Value Fee.
I sold a shirt for 12.50 and was charged 44p with VAT 52p

As Stephen said,
I would think you will find that HMCR have deemed e-bay`s service a Vatable one and hence the 17.5% charge. Hence, more a legal requirement rather than rip off (although they could in theory have said the normal charge was inclusive of VAT so that the cost isnt passed onto you e-bay users, but then they wouldnt make as much money)

Doesn`t that mean you paid VAT twice on the item? Once when you bought it, and again when you sold it? Or am I completely misunderstanding the post (highly likely)?

The VAT is on the fee ebay charge you, unrelated to the item.
