i am a rental company in nothern ireland and would like to point out that play 247 region 2 titles are cheaper than i can buy them of the wholesalers that is based in leyton, london

to get mass discount you have to buy in bulk, i recommend getting into the swap/second hand market as this is what a lot of people are looking for.

good luck with your venture

Wonder

Do you rent out R1? I would think that anyone who has a dvd player and doesn`t know about region coding (I work with 2 of these!) and saw a disc available to rent of a film that`s currently at the cinema and being advertised all over the t.v (i.e A Knight`s Tale currently) would result in a lot of customers investigating. You could probably demand a slightly higher r1 rental fee too.

Or is this impossible due to international copywrites?

You can try it , but be warned.

1. They can take ALL your stock ( not just region 1 )

2. You will face fines and or prison.

You are violating classification rules ( BBFC )

reguarding region 1 dvd rental(which i do not do)

example
you can display region 1 dvd`s as long as it has a big display only label on it, the same as the disc
its what i would call try before you buy, let the customer buy the disc at say £19.99 if they do not like the film give them a refund of £15.99, then let them swap it for a fee the next time they come in for another disc

its only an idea?

I`m not in the know on consumer law, but surely that`s not real loophole. It`s not a refund if you don`t give them the full price back. People could argue (quite rightly) for a full refund. Couldn`t they?

That wouldn`t work - you can`t sell OR rent discs unless they have the appropriate BBFC certificate.

My advice would be "Don`t have windows." (see "In a bad mood part IIV")

Good luck to you . I hope it goes well.

All the best,

Andrew.
