Is Flintoff right to stay in India when his wife is expecting?

The original 42pcenter MD (Elite) posted this on Tuesday, 28th February 2006, 12:45

Due to the team dwindling he has said he will stay for the good of the team dispite the fact that his wife is about to pop.

Has he done the right thing?

All the best,

Dr 42%er.

It`s not easy being different. It`s not easy being cool....but somehow I manage....

Obviously he and his wife has discussed this so whats all the fuss about? :/
She seems to be happy with the idea and so is he - For Gods sake they have just had a phone in on the lunchtime news about it!!
I feel sorry for our chaps in the armed services in Iraq who could be in the same position -bet that doesn`t get reported eveyday day in the press? :(

I think if I`d tried to do that Mrs Tifoso would have scored 12 on my return. Hitting a 6 with each ball ! ;)

Missing the birth of your child because of work commitments is perfectly excusable and normal,if a little sad.

Especially if those works commitments involve captaining your national team in another continent.

That said, add one vote to the `couldnt give a s***` pile. Let the guy do what he likes. Yesterday it was Becks being too dumb to do Brooklyns homework, today its this. Heaven forbid any sporting news actually be about sport.....

Yes of course he has. Simply as it is up to him and his wife, so yes, he has.

I have got to say that nothing would`ve dragged me away from the birth of my two children.

Yes he is a brilliant player and a valued member of the England side, but there will be many matches he can play in - his child is only born once!! Get back with your family where you belong!

I believe that is wife (Rachael - I think) has been consulted and was in full agreement that he should stay in India.

I wouldnt be surprised if he has extra duties to carry out on his eventual return though. To be fair from what you see in papers, tele etc he seems a decent father so he probably didnt take the decision lightly
