i know this has nothing to do with dvd,and i don`t know how long the moderators will allow this thread to run,if indeed at all.but here goes,i have just watched the news and i think the treatment being handed out to those children on their way to school is beyond words.
i hav`nt got much to say,my blood just boils at the thought,so i will let their actions say it all.

Schnozzer, have to agree with you on this.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions/biases etc,
but if expressing them makes children cry.....they`ve got to find another way!!

I agree, totally disgraceful, makes you embarrased to be a member of the same race. I can`t see a difference between what they are doing and if the kids had been black and they were shouting racist comments.

I agree, what an unbelievable situation, but don`t forget the parents of the children are almost as bad as the rest by using their children to prove a point, there must be other ways.

I`m an atheist and have no desire to go to war with anyone! funny thing that not believing in a God , and yet not wanting to kill another human being??

It`s yet another sad chapter in the Ulster situation where both sides, for whatever reason, are refusing to back down.

The sectarianism issue in Belfast seems to take one step forward and two steps back. Whilst it may be an idealistic notion of "why can`t we just get along?" there is too much history between the two camps for either to stand down.

I can see where the parents are coming from who want to use that road, but they really do need to look at how their actions are affecting their own flesh and blood. By the same token, the protestors should be deeply ashamed of putting children, no matter what religious persuasion they are, through this situation.

It`s just too entrenched in history for us to sit on the sidelines saying how awful it is - the question is, the scenes you are seeing on the telly is everyday life for these folks. Sadly, it`s symptomatic of the whole problem in Ulster. The politicians are the ones who should be put in a field and made to scrap it out like savages - these guys on the streets, whether Protestant or Catholic, are only acting in accordance with what they are told (by politicians, or sympathetic groups) is right.

I think finding a cure for the common cold is probably easier than solving the Ulster situation, sadly, and I don`t say that lightly. It`s gone well past responsible adults discussing things round a table, I`m afraid

Makes me so very, very sad that people can be so cruel to each other :-(

I`m in total agreement about this use of kids, it`s unacceptable, but what can we do?

Some of these same "politicians" lived together quite amicably (after a fashion) while guests of Her Majesty in Long Kesh/The Maze. They may be older and greyer but they`re still the same ones who tried their damndest to kill people like me in the 70`s. Personally I wouldn`t be too confident of their unbiased efforts at resolving this latest problem - it might cost them votes in their *new* careers.

On a more optimistic note: it was good to see an IRA/SinnFein representative, and one from the Loyalists, on Channel 4 News being in agreement that *something* has to be done for the sake of these children. As long as they`re talking there`s hope.

What is this World coming too, just looking at the news over the last couple of weeks all we hear of are countries WORLDWIDE fighting and all because of one thing ... R E L I G I O N !!!

I agree , too often children are involved in troubles in NI.
I mean generation after generation are being born and being taught by their parents to hate people of a different religion.

I actually spent the first 4 years of my life , living
on that God forsaken street( there was a wire fence higher than our house at the back to stop stones from breaking our windows )

We moved when the tension got too much ( lots of people being shot on a regular basis ).

I would like to take this chance to say that things were not always like this , in earlier times people in these interface zones did get on a lot better back in earlier times ( Just b 4 the early 70 `s explosion of hatred )
Catholics and Protestants actaully attended Bonfire nites , parades etc in peace.

Watching pictures on World TV showing grow men shouting and spitting @ children makes me ashamed to be a member of the human race. Have these men not got jobs or other important things to be doing ?

I also feel great sympathy foe the police who are yet again playing Piggy in the middle , with both sides attacking them.
