Page 1 of Surround from my Video
General Forum
I have recently bought a Kenwood KRFV5050 receiver and as well as connecting it to my DVD player I would like to be able to get the joys of Dolby Pro-logic from my old video collection.
So how do I connect my receiver and video to do this?
At the moment they are connected using the analogue output of the video, but this doesn`t seem to be giving me the Pro-logic surround.
please help
thanks
Iain
That should work - I`ve just got the two phono`s (RCAs) from the back of the video plugged into the surround amp..... simple.
Yeah, should work. I`m using the line outs on the back of the TV, so I get pro-logic from videos and transmissions.
RE: Surround from my Video
I`m not sure that you can get this amp to decode pro-logic, but this is something I am still trying to understand myself so I may be wrong.
Looking at the specs for amps some do DD, DTS and Pro-logic but the spec for the 5050 only says DD and DTS therefore I am assuming that it does not do Pro-logic for things such as video.
I may be wrong on this and all amps may do Pro-logic and the additional Pro-logic mentioned in the specification may mean Pro-logic 2.
Hi all,
Just a quick note, ALL Dolby and Dts amps and recievers are backwards compatible with Pro Logic. Don`t forget you`ll have top manually change the amp to output in Pro Logic as analogue material isn`t `flagged`. This refers to dvds and cd`s which carry a small signal that automatically switches the amp to its correct digital retreival mode. If you go through all the sound modes on your Kenwood then you should have a mode which is either Pro Logic or Normal Surround. This is plain vanilla Pro Logic and can be used for anything from cd`s to tv broadcasts. Oh,and once you`ve listened to Dolby Digital, Pro Logic just won`t sound as good, so be warned!
Hope this helps
