Littlewoods index

biglebowski (Elite) posted this on Wednesday, 14th December 2005, 13:53

I have a minidisc player that has stopped working after two years. Luckily i bought 3 year insurance with it. My insurance policy says that if i need a replacement to take it along to my nearest littlewoods index store.

Only thing is that my nearest Littlewoods index has closed. Have they all closed? Can`t seem to find any online (just littlewoods extra, which could be the new name).

I quite like the Helpdesk people in a benevolent (as opposed to malevolent) way as they do some valuable work in preventing us being inundated by every halfwit who can work a phone.

Right after we moved to oxford we needed some cables and bits and pieces. Failing to find the Argos, we stumbled on Index. `Next best thing` I thought.

I looked in the catalogue, wrote down what I wanted and took it to the counter.

`When would you like to pick this up?`

`Erm...now?`

`Sorry its 2-5 working days for orders at the moment`

`Exqueeze me?`

`We dont actually carry stock. You have to order it and come back for it`

`Heh....ok.....do you know where argos is?`

Admittedly, it wasnt a huge index, but damn. Thats poor.

Closed in Warrington months ago but I`m sure that the last time I was in Argos, they had a sign up with a contact number for any Index returns. Think they must have been getting people wanting Argos to replace items and send back to manaufactuer. Not sure when I`ll next be going in there but when I do I`ll see if still there.

you shouldn`t have a problem sorting it out, as littlewoods owned index lock stock & barrel & as index didn`t go "bust" your warrenty should be covered by littlewoods as they are the parent company, also, the chances are that the extended warrenty is covered by a third party any way (ie, comet etc use domestic & general) so if you contact littlewoods they should get you sorted no problem :)

but let us know how you go on either way

Argos took over the Index stores a few months ago. If you had an Argos near an Index store then the Index store was to close. If there wasn`t an Argos in the vacinity already, then the Index store was to be rebranded as Argos.
